Just Not Worth It
Rancho De La Osa is in an interesting location very near the Mexican border-- it's beautiful country, and the horse wranglers are great. The rooms were attractive and comfortable.
HOWEVER, I absolutely cannot recommend this property, because it is not at all as advertised, and the owners are an unnerving combination of strange and rude.
Their literature promises gourmet meals with fresh ingredients, but we were served cold food, rancid butter, sad mass-produced items and things that would have looked bad slopped down on a middle school cafeteria lunch tray, let alone at a resort that is charging hundreds of dollars a day. Many things that were promised were not available, and the owners were entirely unapologetic. (Members of my party had signed up for massages, and had listed dietary restrictions on their food surveys-- all of this was largely ignored.) When we tried to let them know we were not entirely satisfied, we got "Everyone has different tastes." as a reply. We were stuck with a drink bill from them that listed multiple things we never ordered, and on top of it all, they charge a ridiculous gratuity/service charge, including on SELF-SERVICE drinks!! There has got to be someplace better for this kind of money.
