A real charmer!
We booked it less than 24 hours prior to a conference. We've stayed in several boutique and 5 star hotels while visiting in NYC, including the Plaza in Manhattan. Since moving from a small town in N.J. in 1989 to the Central Fl. area, we make the annual trek to Daytona and spend time on the quiet side(Daytona Beach Shores)at either the Hilton or at a private beach side cottage. This time, for a change of scenery, we chose Lillian's place that faces the river. Quiet and serene with honeysuckles and butterflies-like promised, we really felt as though we were stepping back into time. We stayed in the Jessica Terry room, one of the two rooms at the Inn with a private balcony. The room was small yet meticulously clean and was tastefully furnished with the perfect antiques, art and accessories. Nothing in that arena was over-looked. The small balcony was cozy but we were unable to use it because the day we visited was the 26th straight day of rain and mother Nature did not make any exception in our case either. I guess I'm just used to having a covered lanai. The main house is like a well maintained museum with a plethora of interesting books and artifacts reminiscent of that period. My husband, who is not the explorer that I am just wanted to hang out in the room but you can better believe that I'll be back for a better look, probably around Christmas time when according to the in room guest book, is a most magical time at the Inn. Mike, our host, was very accommodating and even came out to the car to greet us in the rain with an umbrella. Try getting that service at the Hilton even for $200 per night during the off season! Recommendations: Cut back the overgrowth that partially blocks the river view from the balcony of the Jessica Terry room and probably the entire view from the balcony at Erin Suzanne. Enough said. Lillian's Place is simply Vintage At It's Finest!
