EWWWW
By ,
I went to Key Largo for a family wedding and ended up staying at Rock Reef because the motel that the wedding was being held at was full. My room was in an alley. The view from the miniature bathroom was a stone wall. It was so small that everytime I turned around i bunked into something. The room was dark, it smelled like rotting apples, though some said it smelled like fresh paint...not sure which. The pillows were lumpy, like little balls were placed inside them. On the other hand the place where the rest of the wedding stayed was beautiful, and for less money! Rock Reef is situated in a lovely area and if the owners just spent a little money and time fixing the place up, it could be a very nice place, not the dive that it is.

I love key largo
By ,
My wife and I have stayed there before and we are probably going to again in about a month. I'll have to agree with what others on here said. It's a great little place that was nice and quiet when we were there and we liked the japanese (i think?) garden in the back, too. I definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking to have a relaxing vacation (which is what being in the Keys is all about). Go snorkeling at pennecamp state park if you can. It is very interesting with some beautiful fish.

Like visiting family (with a beautiful seaside place)
By ,
This year we decided to visit the Florida Keys during Christmas week. We zeroed on on Key Largo to minimize drive time from MIA. We prefer Mon and Pop type accommadations, privately owned and managed onsite. The Rock Reef Resort (MM99) sounded perfect and it was. Rock Reef Resort provided a wonderful, kicked back, quiet stay. Our room (#21) was furthest back from the water but delightful none the less. The grounds are covered with mature excellent tropical landscaping plus a collection on fantastic Bonsai by the owners. There is a small beach ideal for pail and shovel play and a dock with Tiki hut where we began and each day with coffee and reading and watched the glorious sunset each night. A tiny kitchenette was super handy for coffee in the am and fruit drinks in the pm. There are a lot of superior seafood restautants near by; Ballyhoo's, The Fish House, The Fish House Encore, as well an John Pennekamp State Park and a Starbucks. We felt fortunate to have gotten a reservation since almost all the rooms were filled with returning visitors, most for 10 or more Christmases. We looked around at other spots in Key Largo and feel we lucked out finding RRR, reasonably priced, spic and span clean, slightly old school, and wonderful hosts, like at a nice B&B. I'm giving Rock reef Resort my highest rating as it suited our tastes perfectly. Getting all 80 degree days helped a lot also.

Perfect get away for our family
By ,
The Rock Reef Resort is on a gorgeous property. We really enjoyed the beach and fishing off the pier the sunsets and just walking through it's gardens that are filled with so many different flowers. From my room on down to the beach I literally was taking in the smell of all the fragrant flowers. It is a very peaceful resort. Nice beach, our children absolutely loved. Our room was EXTREMELY clean. We enjoyed fishing off the pier. The restaurant across the street was by far the BEST meal we had in Key Largo and is just a few steps away. Compared to many other hotels I looked into, you really cant beat the price for such a paradise surrounding. I would recommend this to family and friends. The staff was also very nice and always smiling. We will be sure to return some day.

We are annual visitors!
By ,
It is more convenient than a longer drive to the Lower Keys, particularly if yu are trailering a boat. It has an "old keys" feel to it with a great little beach, some cottages, beautiful grounds, and yet it is convenient to restaurants and stores. We love the tranquility and friendliness and sunsets and the feeling of "coming home". Linda and Dave (the owners) are just the best in trying to assure you have a good, relaxing time without being intrusive to your vacation. We highly recommend it...and we have!

Paradise!
By ,
Tranquility: Laze your days away or be active. Rock Reek has a quiet bayfront beach with little surf that dolphins and manatee's frequent, thatch roof picnic areas, snorkeling, swimming, available docks, hammocks at the beach or on the well manicured lawns, shower at the beach. Great towels, comfortble beds, clean rooms, self-catering available, restaurant across the road, close to everything yet still quiet. They can accommodate groups as well. Just Perfect! RRis for getting away from the rat race.

GREAT
By ,
My family and I visted Key Largo over Thanksgiving break and loved every minute of it. The kids had a great time and want to make it a trip we do each year. The rooms were clean and well decorated. The grounds around were well kept and neat, even with a Hurricane having gone through only a few weeks before our vist. The staff was very helpfull and made sure we had everthing we needed. Rock Reef was easy to get to and made it the perfect spot to get to other things, such as the State Park and even Key West only a short drive south, but close enough to come home to a the end of the day. We will most likley be there again for Thanskgiving 2006, it was a great place to stay and soak up the weather of the Florida Keys.

The Only Place to Stay in Key Largo
By ,
The owners and staff are first rate.If you want a relaxing vacation this is the place to go.The staff will give you plenty of suggestions for places to visit. But use Rock Reef as your base. You can't go wrong. The grounds and cottages are beautiful and the dock and Tiki hut are the place to be for sunset over the bay.Vacation is Rock Reef to us.

HIDDEN TREASURE
By ,
We come to Key Largo to relax and unwind. Rock Reef Resort is the perfect place. We stay in the cottages overlooking bay. I've seen some of the most amazing sunsets for their beach. We enjoy the many fantastic restaurants in Key Largo, but we really enjoy cooking outside in their bar-b-que area. Afterwards, we swing in the hammocks among the tropical landscapes. It's what the Keys are suppose to be.

Relaxing, Great Views, and Great Value all at one location!
By ,
Over the past 18 years, I have stayed at Rock Reef Resort many, many times. I have had clients, co-workers, friends, and family stay at Rock Reef. It is unanimous, the Adams' present a great place to visit for work or vacation. Although the resort is centrally located to restaurants, diving operators, and shops on Key Largo, once you arrive on the grounds of the resort you are transported to a lush tropical oasis. Whether it be the tropical trees throughout the resort, the inviting beach along their shore, or the fabulous sunset views from the pier, the Rock Reef Resort is a great place to stay. To ensure your visit is memorable, Dave and Linda will go out of their way to make sure you are at home in their resort, or if you desire, they will simply leave you alone to enjoy the relaxation of your vacation. After 20 years of travels throughout the Caribbean and tropical Pacific, this is my family's favorite tropical resort.
