Lake McConaughy SRA, Ogallala

For $110 plus tax per night sleeping on the sand would have been cleaner and cheaper...cabin 13 sucked big time...they said no other rooms were available, the unit was filthy, trash under beds, air conditioner covered with years of dirt, room full of bugs, carpeting filthy, old leaky broken shower, dust everywhere, beds miserable, back door didnt even lock, towels should have been garage rags, office person condisending and rude and not helpful, made us feel like we were asking too much to have a clean decent functioning unit...looked inside on a couple other units that were similar and somewhat cleaner but basically gross too..the other better choices at lake were Kingsley Lodge - I needed 2 rooms for $79 per night - $160 for 4 adults or nearly $200 per night at condo by Martin Bay...spend the extra money and avoid North Shore Lodge or sleep in a tent or stay in Ogallala and drive 9 miles to lake...I grew up in Ogallala and at the lake - a shame there are not more clean reasonable places to stay at the lake...the lake finally has water after years of drought and we get there is a bad economy but there is no excuse for this property/personnel sucking so bad...owner is from Chappell, Nebraska and will try to contact them about poor property conditions.
