A little bit of a walk, but a great hotel in Parma!
My sister and I arrived in Parma without hotel reservations, so when we walked out from the train station this was one of the first hotels we saw. The staff was so nice! When the gentleman at the front desk took our passports he saw that he and I shared the same birthday. Our whole stay he called me his birthday sister.
We paid about 100 euros a night for a 2 twin bed room with bath.
It's a little bit of a walk to the city center, maybe 10 or 15 minutes, but it wasn't bad at all. Plus we got to shop while going to dinner, so we didn't mind! The road from the hotel/train station to the center is lined with cute little stores, butcher shops with whole prosciutto legs in the window, and of course, more churches.
I'd recommend the Hotel Moderno, it's one of my favorite in all of Italy.
