You have to see Trieste!!

I was able to find Hotel Alabarda on the web and make reservations only one day before I went there. The Hotel is very near the main train and bus stations so it was an easy walk there even with 3 pieces of luggage (hint, if you get to the Grand Canal you have gone about 3 blocks too far). I had already read about it on the web so I knew what to expect. First ring the bell at street level so that the front desk can let you in, then walk up 4 flights of stairs (there was a tiny elevator that I didnt even think of using). The stairwell was very dark, but dont let that stop you. When you get to the 3rd floor, which is actually the 4th floor the middle door is the entrance to the lobby of the hotel. As soon as I entered the lobby there was a very well lit and nice front desk. The personal there were very nice and helpful. Once I got checked in I went back down to the 1st floor (2nd floor) where my room was. The room was very nice. Even though the room looked out over a fairly busy street I was able to get a good night sleep with no problem. It is a hostel so I had to share a toilet, which was very nice and clean, that was just down the hall. My room had a shower and sink, which were really nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that would like to visit the very beautiful Trieste and not spend a fortune.
