Description

The 3 stars London Elizabeth Hotel was originally built in 1850 as three private houses in a new terrace of elegant family homes on Lancaster Gate Terrace- as it was then known- in the area of Bayswater- London. The area had already become extremely fashionable through its proximity to the Court of St James- the seat of Government at Westminster- the wide array of city center artisans and traders and its most pleasing aspect over Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. We are a privately owned family hotel - and it shows. Amongst its early resident dignitaries is believed to be at number three- the family of Lord Butler who used the house as a town residence. Their wine cellars- with original bin numbers clearly marked- were to remain in use for over one hundred and thirty years. Some ten years after taking up residence the family added the feature of a cast iron and leaded glass semicircular domed conservatory at the back of the house- overlooking the stable and gardens.Today- we hope that you will savor the charm- character and atmosphere of a bygone age while still enjoying the modern facilities and high levels of service for which we are known. All guest rooms are beautifully decorated with en-suite facilities- TV- radio clock- safe- hairdryer- trouser press- direct dial telephones- dressing tables and each room is individual in style and decor. We look forward to welcoming you to the London Elizabeth Hotel and hope your stay with us is a pleasurable one. Car parking spaces are guaranteed for all hotel guests at a charge. Additional Information- Children age 2 and under stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding or with baby cot. Children age 3-13 when sharing with two adults pay GBP 15.00 extra per night for a third bed. Children over this age will be considered an adult. The hotel reserves the right to without prior notification cancel any reservation with an invalid or incomplete credit card number.

Friendly, modest, nice location
By nwchiburbs, 8/3/09
It is right near the tube station, and bus lines. Shower was hard to get right. Friendly staff. Food is pretty good, but they ran out of too many dinner selections.

A little gem
By Agnes, 1/9/06
The London Elizabeth has something that is lacking in so many hotels these days:character. This is not your high-rise, identikit hotel, this is is a lovely unique hotel right at the gate of Kensington Gardens. The room was comforatable and spacious.Although there is non air-con, there is a Casablanca fan which does the job just fine. There are nice toiletries in the bathroom. Room service is fast, efficient and good value. There is not hospitality tray, but a pot of tea in a china pot and cake can be brought to your room any time you please. Nice after a hard days shopping or a night at the theatre. Right across from Lancaster Gate tube station and with a bus stop right outside, finding this hotel is not a problem. There weren't any obvious convience shops nearby, but I was only there for one night and didn't have time to scout round there area to see where I could by water etc. I am very likely to return.
