Hotel Bucanero, Santiago de Cuba

we have been to this resort at least 12 times,we love it here,the staff is fantastic Ibia Perez makes you feel at home.She will answer all of your questions and try to make your stay enjoyable,Going march 20 for two weeks, cant wait

loved the location,loved the people,food not great but bearable.this will be our 10th time here.we wont go any other place in Cuba.Weather is always great,rooms are very clean as are the grounds,a very quiet and personable resort, cant wait till march

We just got back from this resort. The rooms are very clean, the air conditioners work very well, the water is purified so you can drink it from the tap in your room, most of the staff are pleasant but some of the bartenders favor the local cubans, evening shows were very good. The beach area is small, the waves are rough in the afternoon and there are lots of rocks. Hard to get in and out of the water. Defenitely need water shoes if you decide to go. FOOD was a problem. No cereal. Grill out of order for the 6 out of 7days that we were there. Nobody bothered to fix it.Food selection was awful. Same thing everyday. Pork , chicken, rice, spaghetti everyday. We will not be returning to this resort.

with the price , have an ocean view room, what more could u ask for? yes the beach is small and lots of crab, welcome to the beach !!

There is not beach, only 4 peoples come into what they call a beach, and there is not more room,service is slow,activities are poor,every year the same program,food is more or less, nothing special, price to expensive according with the quality of service,the most of the time, staff should be more profesional, like in Jamaica The area is pretty, but they need to improve the quality of service. tHE OCEAN IS VIRGIN AND BEAUTIFILLL

As for the guy complaining about the crabs. I think they are beautiful and fun to watch . ( Go in a different month if you don't want to see them ) Going to Bucanero is a beautiful adventure everytime we go. The food is good ( I have heard people say they get tired of it ,BUT If you ate every meal at the same restaurant in Canada for a week or two you would also tire of it ). Personally my husband and I love this resort, it is a very casual and relaxing place to visit. The people that work there couldn't be any nicer and accomodating to your needs. Going to Bucanero doesn't feel like a tourist trap like most islands and that is exactly what I want in a vacation. You can be busy doing tours etc. or just relaxing . Doesn't get any better then this .

I have been to this resort 8 times and have never had a complaint - sure there are crabs, but April and May are their mating season and they climb into the cliffs to propogate. buchanero is in the heart of a National Park and all wildlife is preserved. the staff are obliging and friendly, the bar service is excellent. This had to be one of the best deals in cuba. as for the beach, no you don't get the miles of sandy beach that Veradero has to offer, but the snorkeling and diving is awesome. they have only just re-opened since Hurricane Katrina and are doing the best that they can. This is Cuba folks, not a 5 star hotel in mexico !!!!.
