I'd love to go back.
In a tour group with fellow high school students, you don't exactly expect the best hotels. And in London and Paris, we didn't have very good places to stay, but when we got to Cannes, Hotel L'Esterel was a breath of fresh air! The rooms were spacious and very well kept. The bathrooms had recently been re-done and the tub was just the right size for a soak at the end of a day spent on the beach. The window in our room was awesome simply beacause of the blinds. If anyone has seen the 2006 movie with Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, and Jack Black entitled "The Holiday" you will recognize what type of blinds these are. They are the automatic ones that come down and make the room completely pitch dark so you can sleep whenever. Great feature for jet lag. The location of the hotel was unbelieveably perfect, we were so close to the beach that it was amazing. We could stroll there and be on the beach in less than 5 minutes. It's also surrounded by great shops, little restaurants, cyber cafes, and at night there are always some great street entertainers on the promenade along the beach. On the top of Hotel L'Esterel there is an atrium where breakfast is served every morning, croissants, baguettes, cereal, and yogurt among the choices with orange juice and coffee. The atrium offers a great view of Cannes. I absolutely loved this hotel and if my mother and I ever go back on our own (I hope we will), I would definitely stay here again.
