The Westin Camino Real Guatemala, Guatemala

It is a very nice hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly. The pool and work out facilities are great. A nice spa too. We were there for the first visit for an adoption and were very comfortable. If you are there for an adoption there was one disadvantage. The room is nice, but it was one large room and no separate bedroom. It is nice to have a separate bedroom you can talk in or watch a little TV in while the baby is sleeping in the main room. Do not worry you will still be able to hear the baby cry. If a separate bedroom sounds nice I would recommend somewhere else. Our second trip we stayed at the Clarion Suites. They had a separate bedroom.

My husband and I were told by our adoption agency that this is the best hotel in the city. We stayed there for 4 days. We never left the hotel until we had our final Visa paperwork for our daughter...at this time we traveled to La Antigua with a private driver and tour guide set up through the hotel. It was great! The hotel had lots of room to walk around, a children's floor with a children's play room, shops/galleries, a couple restaurants, and a nice pool. Don't expect to have any Mexican food while you're there...it's all American. The staff was unbelievably helpful and everyone spoke English. I recommend eating lunch poolside, as it is cheaper(and you get a ton of food). Most all adoptive parents would seem to gather at the pool or in the play room. It was nice talking to different people and seeing what they have experienced and gone through. Our hotel room was okay. There was no grout in the bathroom floor and the couch was broken down....but overall, nice. And for anyone who is interested, the hotel is just minutes from the Embassy and the airport! Oh, and from the children's play room there is a magnificent view of the volcano.
