Hampton Inn Bennington, VT, Bennington

This was a return visit to the Bennington area and to the Hampton Inn. One of the best Hampton Inns, and we've stayed at many - courteous friendly, helpful staff in addition to spotless public areas and guest rooms.

We spent two nights in Hampton Inn. It is very clean, quiet and comfortable. Very close to Bennington College- about 5 min driving. Breakfast is tasty and plenty. Staff is wonderful! We will return in August.

We decided to get away for a night with our kids and swim the winter away for a night. we rented 2 rooms one for my mother and 1 for us and kids. We arrived at 12:30 and check in was at 3:00. They said our rooms wernt done so we went and had lunch and came back 1 hour later. Rooms still not done. OK. We ask if we could swim in pool and wait for rooms? NO. Something about insurance. Later we found out they could have checked us in and let us sit by pool until rooms were done...but bonehead lady didnt think of that.So off we go to kill another 1 and half hours. Finally check in, heater doesn't go above 68. guy says he fixes it...still not over 68.Oddly my moms room...same thing 68. No drinking except in room...they ask whats in your cup..its the truth. Kids get yelled at for trying to get bannana without parents. Food in morning was good. Then and heres the final straw...we eat breakfast. Decide to go for morning swim until check out at 11:00. Its 8:30 and swimming pool is filled with people and in comes guy to do maintenance and kicks everyone out of pool for half hour..Are YOU SERIOUS? check out is 11:00 and your strict about check in being 3:00 thats 4 full hours to close the pool. complained about all of the above to manager much to no avail...a simple "sorry to hear that" I guess the 100% guarentee or money back is a bunch of bunk!!! By FAR the worst experience in a hotel we have EVER had.

It's really a nice place-spotless, great breakfast, wonderful pool, good location, beautiful lobby. What's not to like? It isn't "Vermonty" but that's ok-it's close to everything. Would be nice if they set a few rooms in the back aside for people who travel with well behaved dogs.
