Great Value for Vegas
Had to spend two weeks in Vegas on a project so this was a work/play trip at company expense. My stepdaughter and her family came up from CA for the weekend and she's a hotel junkie and found this place on the net. I must say I was very impressed. Rooms spacious, well-appointed, liked the 42" flat screen TV. Premium toiletries in bath, rooms were very clean and staff efficient and friendly.
My company's travel department balked at the price which varied from 69-179 a night but it averaged out less than 100, they were impressed because it was less than a Hampton/Holiday Inn type of place. Location not a problem as I had a rental car and its close to the airport so no trouble with 8am departure.
There's something for everyone here, bowling, great arcade for the kids, bingo (not that I go to Vegas to play when I can go the local VFW Post for that), and a good sports/race book. We had a blast on Saturday and Sunday afternoons watching people celebrate or cry at football results as we were betting horse races. Also the equisterian center was a change of pace with a horse show in progress (plenty of cute cowgirls in tight jeans and hats).
The buffet was good, not great, but more than ample and fairly reasonable. Had a great Italian meal one evening in Don Vito's, a bit pricey but excellent service. The coffee shop was hit or miss and more than the buffet. The NY style deli was very good and appreciated the coffee and ice cream stands. Health club now free and used it most mornings to work out. $10 internet charge rediculous but there's a public library a few blocks north with free access, you can even hit it in the parking lot.
This is a great value for Vegas, join the club and get the discount/freebie book.South Point is kid friendly while having plenty for the grownups too.
