Tax costs 1 EUR per hotel star rating, per person, per night, and must be paid to the hotel the tourist tax is payable only for the first 5 nights of stay. Tax will not apply to children under age 10. A 50pct discount is applied to the tax for children 10 to 16 years old and also applied during periods other than high season. A 40pct discount is applicable for properties located on the mainland, such as Venice Mestre. A 30pct discount is applicable for properties located in the islands such as Venice Lido, or San Clemente.
