Great service, good resort overall.

The drive from the airport is about an hour to an hour and a half, depending how adventurous your bus driver is. The roads are full of potholes but the trip was made fun because we were with another couple and the bus drivr put some music on.
When we arrived our initial impression was fantastic; drinks the minute we walked in and great front desk staff that spoke english very well. Be prepared for people to take your luggage at the front and move it to the middle of the lobby. Just tell them if you want to take your own bags, although your bags will still be moved. Safe keys can be rented at the front for $2/day, and you can buy some dominican currency at the front as well. They will not change it back to US or CAN currency at the end.
Our room was not the best part of the vacation, but it was fine. Mostly clean, we had good service from the cleaning staff. We left a couple gifts as tips everyday and it seemed appreciated. If you need more water in your room or more towels just leave a note. The front is very slow to bring water to your room; it is easier to ask the cleaning staff when you see them. Lots of storage space and large rooms with a balcony, although the beds are very hard and uncomfortable. Buy a plug adaptor if you think you'll need it.
The beach was fantastic, and the water sports were easy to rent out and use. There is a lot of coral to snorkel around and view the fish. I might suggest you bring your own snorkel gear if you are serious at all because their's is sub par although usable. We used alcohol to sanitize the mouth pieces before using. Beach huts are a hto commodity; go snag one before 7am by putting towels on it and no one will touch it. I had no problem with theft. I left belongings on the beach to do sports etc. The pools are great, same situation with the lounge chairs as the beach. The bar service at the pools is variable. I suggest going into the restaurant to get drinks beacuse the service is better (great) and there are bathrooms nearby.
Food was one of the only things I would really complain about at this resort, although I have very high standards for dining. I expected this at an all inclusive anyway; from what I've hear from friends most all-incusive resorts are like this. The buffet is fine with a little trial and error. The fruit is fantastic. The a la carte dinners were fairly bad. I would almost prefer the buffet which is something I never thought I'd say. Nightlife was almost non-existent from what I saw, bt that was fine by me.
Overall we were impressed with this resort. If you are looking for a great place in Punta Cana I would recommend it. I would call it a relaxing and fun vacation, although not a "party" vacation spot.
