Days Inn Baltimore, Catonsville

Avoid this hotel and find another town nearby to stay. My husband and son were travelling from Florida to New York and booked an overnight stay. The neighborhood was terrible, not a place to go out at night. My husband was not confident that his belongings were safe in the U-haul truck or that car he was hauling would not be broken into the middle of the night. But he went against his instinct and checked in anyway. The door to the room was jammed and needed to be pushed open. The characters that hung around and in the hotel were unsavory. And while my husband was at the front desk a couple was offered a room for $40.00, he did not have to wonder why. It did not take long for my husband to decide that this was not a safe place to stay; there was bullet proof glass at the front desk. He was informed by the front desk attendant that he would be charged for the night. My husband protested and asked to speak with the manager; he was told none was available for the evening. We hope to be able to challenge this since the he did not use their accomodations.

My Dad and I went there and stayed for 2 nights. Upon making reservations we asked about a Moose member club discount, we were told that would be taken care of at check in. Upon check in they said it should have been taken care of during the reservation process, outcome, no discount. The rooms werent bad for sleeping and were clean. You can catch a cab from here to downtown for around $23.00 or walk across the street behind Sams Club and catch the bus for $1.60. Either way it only took about 15 minutes.

The location was convenient and the price was right, but not located in a very good part of Baltimore. When we got out of the elevator to go to our room, both my fiance' and I looked at each other because the carpet in the hallway extremely soiled and had copious amounts of free standing dirt on it. The hallway was also very poorly lighted. Apparently, they are in the process of renovating the bathrooms, but the contractors are not cleaning up after a day's work. It certainly didn't give us a good impression. Our bathroom had been renovated and was very nice, but the rest of the room is in desperate need of renovation as well. We had a similar experience at a Day's Inn in Arlington, VA. which makes me wonder if all the Day's Inns are like this. I tried to keep the cost of our vacation low, but I guess we got what we paid for. We stayed at a Holiday Inn in Frederick, MD and visited another and they were much nicer.
