Not that bad for the price

I have stayed here twice on two separate occasions, separated by almost a year.
OK... admittedly most of the negative reviews are pretty accurate. This isn't the cleanest hotel. The bathrooms are especially unpleasant. I didn't take a shower on either of my visits. I didn't experience any bed bugs, but I did have flying gnats in my room on both visits. The beds were comfortable, though. And, the cable TV was decent.
But, now, let's consider the price. With tax, I spent only $45 per night. Where are you going to find that price in northern Virginia? Not in a Holiday Inn. Every other hotel I looked at in the area was at least twice the price. So, for a single night or even a couple nights, it's not that bad.
I met the owner on my first visit and he took me on a tour of the hotel. He was very nice. I know others have indicated that he ripped them off. I have not had the same experience. But, of course, I won't dispute their claims.
All in all, if you are traveling in the area and need a hotel for a night and are willing to skip taking a shower, the Apple Garden Inn is actually a decent hotel for the price and location. I will probably stay there again at some point.
