Kids called it the Big Dump.
We stayed in a family room with our three schoolaged kids. This hotel needs to renovate its already basic facilities. Though this is a nonsmoking hotel, our bathroom (and part of the corridor) smelled strongly of smoke, probably as a result of a ventilation problem. The single chair was upholstered in some unfathomable shaggy cloth (the same fabric used in the curtains!?) that was matted with countless food drippings. We had to put a towel over it to sit on it. Likewise the carpet had a sticky patina that we didn't dare walk barefoot on. The paint is old, peeling, and stained particularly in the bathroom. While the beds and bath fixtures were clean, the trash under the bed and dirty carpet, etc. ruined the experience. Furthermore the bunk bed was assembled wrong, so that the top bunk had no guard rail on the side where the ladder was. We turned the open side to the wall and our son had to climb up via the headboard.
We stayed over a Saturday night when innumerable hen- and stag parties were staying in the hotel. Despite this the room was quiet. The front desk was clearly understaffed for the volume of guests and as a result service was rushed and curt. Breakfast was basic but good though the staff struggled to keep up with the many guests.
I understand this is a bargain hotel but the management has taken too many shortcuts - with staff, with improvements, and with perks - such as charging for wireless. Mr. Malkovich should think twice about the product he is associating himself with.
