worst hotel experience /filthy
We selected this Hampton Inn in Linden, NJ because of the location, being close to restaurants and shopping while my husband could work in nearby Manhattan. From the outside, it appeared to be a very nice hotel. The lobby was spacious and decorated nicely. We stayed at this Hampton Inn with our 4 children for 5 nights during our 7 week business trip/ vacation. This was, by far, the worst hotel stay we have ever experience, not only for the 7 week trip, but in our whole 40 years.
Upon checking in at about 8:00pm, we asked for a rollaway bed to be put in our room while we go out to dinner. It was not in the room when we arrived back at 10:00 pm. Despite several phone calls, it was not delivered until 11:45pm. When we pulled out the sleep sofa, it had dirty sheets and blanket, complete with what appeared to be dried chinese food on it. We requested clean sheets and a clean blanket, which staff delivered to the room for us to make the bed ourselves. Hotel offered no appologies.
The rooms were dirty, bedding appeared dirty and stained. Carpets, both in the room and in the hallways, appeared dirty and full of stains. I advised the front desk that the jacuzzi tub in our bathroom was full of what appeared to be mold. The manager, LaTanya, called me, no apologies. She stated that it could not be mold. The next day, housekeeping staff spent from 1:50pm until 2:46pm scrubbing the jacuzzi jets free of what appeared to be mold. LaTanya refused to admit that this black substance was mold. She also lied when I told her that the person was scrubbing the jacuzzi for just under 1 hour. LaTanya, who was not prestent said it took only "a few minutes". She was extremely confrontational and rude. I have never been treated so poorly by anyone in a management position before. I let her know that I took many photos and swabs of the mold.
I was unable to connect to the complementary high-speed internet in my room. I was able to use the computer in the lobby to complete my work, however, the unfriendly staff would not allow me to have a cup of coffee with a lid on it at the computer. They stated it is hotel policy, although I have never had any other hotel not allow an adult to sip coffee while working at their computers.
Complimentary newpaper was never delivered as advertised free M-F.
The complimentary breakfast was good with a nice variety of cereals for the children to choose from.
The hotel staff was very rude, uninviting, and unaccomodating. The rooms were dark and plain. This stay was not worth the money. I would never recommend this Hampton Inn to anyone. It all comes down to very bad management!
