Kensington Riverside Inn, Calgary

This is one of the best kept secrets for accommodations and upscale dining in Calgary. My wife and I checked out the Kensington Riverside Inn to celebrate a friend's 40th Birthday Party in their fabulous restaurant, Chef's Table. Without question, this is the best restaurant in Calgary -- food is sumptuous, wine pairings are eclectic and perfect, service is second to none, decor is very stylish and the concept itself is first rate -- it's culinary theatre as you watch the chefs prepare the meals in a showcase kitchen. The room is perfect (seats 30 and the fireside lounge seats 20). We enjoyed the 7-course tasting menus prepared by the chef. Simply amazing. The Inn itself is full of wonderful charm as each of the 19 rooms were individually decorated. They have a terrific selection of wines in the wine fridges in each room and fabulous 42" flatscreen TVs too. Lovely accommodations, pristine and clean and kept in great shape. The staff make you feel at home and they're pleased to share their tidbits about what to experience in Calgary. We'll be back to this little gem located just outside of Downtown Calgary in one of the coolest neighborhoods in the city. Parking and hot breakfast were included in the rate. What a nice bonus!!! 5 Stars all the Way.

I have stayed at this property many times and love the tasteful elegance of each uniquely appointed room. Each room is its own oasis. The location next to Kensington, gives you access to great restaurants and unique shops. You are in a vibrant area minutes from downtown. I'd always stay here rather than in the stark downtown that is like a ghost town at night. I love waking up to fresh brewed coffee delivered outside your door every morning and arriving in the breakfast room to see what culinary delight the chef has prepared for us that day. It doesn't get any better in Calgary!
