Barcelo Dominican Beach All-Inclusive Resort, Punta Cana

Service, bad Room Condition BAD Cleanliness BAD No towels, staff inadequate. Pool area filthy. Poor quality food, actually pigs got better food. If you have a person you want to get even with for a dastardly deed, send them there. A/C leaking water from condensation. Had to change rooms twice. In addition there were 7 of us and had 4 rooms and all were bad. When calling with a problem whom ever answered the phone would say help on way, but no one ever showed up, so down to the desk and get into a fight. When moved required us to sign a document NOT TO SUE, but we will, except we'll go after Liberty and Apple. Furniture all beat up and broken, such as draws falling out and doors on cabinets broken or hinges pulling out. Only 3 bell men available and 2 golf carts to carry your bags, and 1 golf cart broken so the place only has 1 to use. Shortage of towels. Had to steal from carts. OH by the way we where moved to the "ELITE SUITE", which was no different than a run of house room, except a little bigger with the same problems and dirt. All in all it was a DUMP, a couple of steps below a bad MOTEL 6

My friends and I had a blast. Pools were warm, the beach water was clear and warm as well. Beach had plenty of chairs under palm trees for added comfort. Many bars available - great coffee shop. Amazing night time shows. Ay ya yai, ouy ouy, chupi chupi. (have to go to kids show to get that). Hilarious MC and fabulous dancers. You'll learn how to dance bachata and merengue, since they mingle with audience. They should have a tip box present because they are worth every extra penny. Loved the brazilian resta. Beautiful landscapes. Some things to work on: my room was quite musty (mildew smell), but clean. Desserts need to be better. Fruit should be covered with food tents to keep 'unwanted guests' off. Reception staff should give more instruction on how things work there. We figured it out after one day, but we speak spanish, so it was easier to catch on. Vendors do pester quite a bit. They should be instructed as to how to not act like used car salesmen since this keeps tourists away rather than attract us. I expected better fruit quality, since it is tropical heaven. All things considered, I would go back in a heart beat.

Second time to an all inclusive-value in this resort. The one thing we did not like is that we could not check into our room til 3:30, arrived at 12:00 PM. Towels should have been given. Packed our suits in carry on-smart! Had to drag arround carry-on not smart! Loved the Spanish resturant. Food otherwise ok. If stomache cramps occur-go to gift shop for meds. Beach was BEAUTIFUL!! Excursion to Soana Island-VERY worthwhile. Rooms are nice. Pretty clean resort. Not too many kids. A few spring breakers. ALOT of French travelers. Watch out for the topless sunbathers!!

Poor service, front desk lady told me a upgrade was available...she saw a bigger group arrive as I did..even thou I was first. She aked if I could go n eat the buffet, which I did. When I got back to check in...she gave away my room..I had to switch rooms twice..one room had water leaking from the toilet...ugly poor rooms. Food was horrible, i think one night out of five was ok. The beach and apperance is nice, watch out for the locals at the edge of the hotel fence..they try to sell you swap meet stuff. Our tour rep. was only intrested in selling a time share to us..he told me to come back twice to confirm transfer to airport schedule. I couldnt book a tour with him...he was hard to find or went home. The hotel drinks were okay...small glasses, but tasty. The staff are friendly and will give u what u ask for..to bad the work for a crappy hotel chain....the company has other there. For the amout I paid, I could have gotten better service and stay in a nicer place. What a dump, and a joke of a vacation...I made the best out of it and did enjoy some things. I would not return to D.R. again...word of advice..go somewhere else !!

The food was good but the resort offered very poor service. You pay for the complete package up front, however, there always seems to be a discrepancy when you try to actually participate in included activities. Now the front desk says one thing, activities says another. You get it at the end but who wants to argue during vacation.

I have been to other places in the Caribbean and I must say Punta Cana was the most beautiful. This resort was great. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The Happy Club Beach boys were hunks also..I will return next year..Please go on The Outback Safari and say hello to Miguel...Love and Miss you Punta Cana.

Half of the people in my party and half of all people i talked too at the resort got violently ill last week. The hotel staff did not acknowledge they had a problem. They lied to everyone who complained. The beach was great but resort should be burned to the ground. The staff was nto helpful unless you spoke spanish. Buyer beware, you will be very, very very disappointed

I liked the resort but the services were not that great. The food was not great but ok. We had 1 br. suit and it was great with 2 baths. Traveling with kids it was nice to have one room just to us. There were few times that there were no towels available and we had to wait for 1-2 hrs to get more. The beach was vary clean and nice. It was vary easy to get around the resort and kids were safe to walk around by themselves. It was nice resort but nothing special. I think that they should impove on few things especially on buffey and restaurant service. Other than that it was good.

i visited ocean bavaro i february 2006. i was very dissapointed in the beach cleanliness. the seaweed was all over the beach which made walking difficult. the maid service was wonderful and mine went out of her way to help us. the food was just ok, although if you go you must try the japenese restaurant. it was the best. i would advise that you learn a little spanish before you go. the best part of my trip was meeting all the nice people. everyone was so freindly. the nightlife was close to none but the weather and the pools were beautiful. m.r. tallmadge, ohio

i thought this hotel was absolutley fabulous!!!all the food and service was fantastic and it was right by the beavh which was a bonus!!
