A great hideaway!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/08
I liked the fact that it was just a few miles out of town. Very quiet and peaceful. A budget motel room on the main street in town would have costed more. Our room reminded me of Billy the Kid. The staff were helpful but not at all overbearing. We had plenty of space to enjoy ourselves in the evening on the lovely deck. There were plenty of books and educational things to check out. We hiked around in the canyon early in the morning which was very enjoyable and returned for an awesome healthy breakfast. If we go again we will probably stay for at least a few days. It was very rejuvinating to our souls and we left there feeling fully refreshed!

You'll enjoy Kelly Place's comfortable 60's Adobe Lodge building. You can walk to a 1000 year old Kiva and Pueblo just 300' from the lodge. You can walk to many more ruins in Canyon of the Ancients National Monument just 800' away. Orchards and lot's of country charm at this one. It's a rustic BnB where you can get dirty and come back after a day's hiking and have a coffee and cookies while you kick off your shoes and recite the days events. A strong recomendation to visit, make it two days since there is so much to see/do around Cortez!
