Unacceptable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/09/09
I have stayed at many four star hotel at discounted prices. This is the first time I was treated like steerage from the Titanic. I would not ever recommend any one stay at this establishment. By the way, there is no parking, so you have to pay the hotel to use the parking lot under the hotel. There is metered parking on the streets, but good luck with that. No free internet service either.

Wonderful trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/08
We stayed at the Westin in July of 2008. The rooms were very nice and comfortable, location was extremely convenient to Washington Mall. The resturant was a little pricey but found IHOP two blocks away. One suggestion is , we came in thru BMI, do not take the Star shuttle (Pain in the &*%#). A cab ride back to airport was cheaper and 45 minutes less. Would absolutly stay at Westin for return trip. Rick in San antonio

Pick a different hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/25/08
My room was broken into and the hotel service was deplorable. The hotel manager did not even bother to contact me or apologize. I had to go out of my way just to talk to the operations manager. I have had better customer service at a Super 8. The area is nice though, lots of restaurants nearby, a block from the Ballston Mall and short walk to the Metro. If you're looking for a good hotel experience, pick a different hotel.

Hidden Jewel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/07
Did a Travelocity package which included this hotel.Although its location is rather mundane the hotel makes up for it with value,a modern freshness, cleanliness and courteous staff. The concierge group was very helpful. The rooms are spotless with comfortable beds/bedding.The two big bonuses are the Ballston Metro station a two block walk(18 minutes to the Smithsonian exit)and the Vapiano new age Italian resturant around the corner( a wonderful new ala carte fresh food concept resturant with great prices-we ate there 3 times it was so good and convenient). This Westin is Wash D.C.s hidden jewel

Great Stay in Arlington, VA!
By RobertO, 06/08/07
This hotel has a great location in Arlington near the Ballston Metro subway. I had asked for and received an early check in. The room was typical to Westin: large, roomy, and comfortable. The room came with wide screen TV. Also, a great exercise room with a pool, weights, and exercycles. Staff was helpful and congenial. No drawbacks. I was in town for a Georgetown alumni reunion, so I did not use the restaurant.

Friendly, but ineffective staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/07
The Gateway doorman is a gem! He seemed to be one of the only people who was actually effective and understood customer service. My stay deteriorated as I entered my room; holes in the duvet, towel rack needing repair, and a dirty makeup mirror greeted me. Reporting problems got some of them fixed, but they could never fix everything during a four day stay. I had to request toiletries on two different days. Concierge had to be called on the phone for one of my requests. I had asked for assistance obtaining a good haircut under $150. This person tried to send me to a day spa I had already visited, one that did no hair services. I told them that, but they just stared at me, and the absent concierge couldn't seem to understand on the phone. They never asked if they could make a few calls and get back to me. The last suggestion was to walk to the mall and see if I could find something there. NOT what I had in mind. I was a bit ill the final morning and asked to check out at 1 p.m. [as a Starwood Preferred Guest I usually get a 2 pm or 3 pm checkout anyway] and was informed by the only truly obnoxious staffer that she "could give me an extra 30 minutes if I had to have it." I have always enjoyed my stays at Westin, but this was one a great disappointment. I listed my problems and left the written account addressed to the manager. I was never contacted. It's unfortunate because I was hoping to have my board of directors meet there several times per year. On the plus side, the beds, tv, mint/fruit water in the lobby, Propel for workouts, in-room climate control are all great. I hope this property gets its act together!!!

Very Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/07/06
My husband and I stayed here with our two children. The first night there were 3 towels in the room. We had to get an additional towel from the pool area so we could all bathe. The bathtub had hair in it and the floor had bits of crackers or cookies on it. The second day we again received 3 towels (even through there were4 left dirty counting the pool towel). We did not get new shampoo and conditioner. I guess we were expected to strech the tiny bottles we were given on the first day (for four people) to last the second. We also found power bars, granola bars in ziplock bags, a book and a piece of fruit under the beds as we were checking to ensure we had all of our belongings. After paying to park and being expected to pay for a wireless connection (which has always been included at better hotels) I was extremely disappointed. When I mentioned the issues to the women at the front desk and gave them all of the items that were left in the room from the previous guests they expressed fake surprise and said they felt bad. Not bad enough to speak with management though. Never again!

Best Hotel in Washington D.C.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/15/06
Recently stayed at the new Westin Arlington Gateway for business. The place is new and beautiful. Flat screen TV's, Heavenly Beds, nice pool and FRIENDLY staff. Ate in the Pinzimini Italian restaurant located off the lobby, and the food and atmosphere were great as well. Had a great time, and will definetly be back. It's about time there is a new hotel in Arlington.
