Saharan Motor Hotel, Los Angeles

Moved to another hotel immediately. Front desk personnel were extremely rude and condescending. I was treated as though I was trying to rob them. It was a terrible experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

A traveler from San Diego, CA recommends this hotel I lived in Hollywood for 2yrs and I know Sunset blvd well. Along this part of the blvd there are many run down Motels. But the Saharan is a refreshing change. The parking lot is extremely small, but it is locked at night so you don�t worry about your car. The pool is clean, the grounds are clean, the room was comfortable & clean. When you have had a long day of being a tourist it is nice to come back to a clean and safe room right on the blvd. The beds are VERY firm, so if you like soft beds this may be the wrong place for you. Over all it was an awesome stay for us, with good food a block away in each direction, a Ralphs (grocery store) also a block away and a refrigerator and microwave (available on request) you can make for a great stay on a budget and you don�t have to drive in LA traffic. I highly recommend the Saharan Motor Hotel. This is a great place to stay if you plan to do Museums and Hollywood attractions. Hollywood Blvd is only a few blocks away and the La Brea Tar pits is a short drive away. The Page museum offers a bus ride over to the Natural history Museum that is accompanied by a discount entry to the second Museum.

Well when I walked into the room it had a slight odor. Then I went to use the bathroom and the toilet wasn't working. I called the front desk, he told me to come down and get a plunger and do it myself. I told him that I didn't pay to unclog the toilet that I did not clog. Then the next morning, the head board fell off the wall and hit my guest in the head causing him to bleed. It's not where you want to be.

I would recommend this hotel for anyone who are trying to save money and still want to stay at a central location,just across from Ralphs market and with walking distance to the usually eating places. The hotel is well kept and clean,even though the rooms can seem small,but if you are just looking for a place to sleep and rest and you spend your day around L.A then it is a perfect place to stay with good rates and free parking.

The location and value of this hotel is really great. Within walking distance of most Hollywood attractions, the Saharan Motor Lodge is perfect for the budget-conscious traveler. I couldn't find another hotel this well-kept, in as good a location, for the same value. Walking around Sunset Blvd and seeing the other hotels/motels that were in the same price range made me glad to be staying at the Saharan. It is definitely one of the nicest affordable hotels on the strip. The beds were very hard, though, so anyone with back problems or looking for a really comfortable night's rest should not stay here.

For the price you're paying its a pretty good deal and in a great location.

This hotel/motel is located right between Hollywood and West Hollywood. There's a lot to see towards Hollywood (very touristy) and a lot to do towards WeHo (the heart of the nightlife scene down Sunset Blvd and the heart of the gay nightlife scene the next street down on Santa Monica Blvd). It's walkable but not advisable unless you're carless and don't want to pay the ridiculous parking fees. Use the bus or Hollywood and Highland subway red line.
