Gran Porto Real Playa Del Carmen All-Inclusive Resort, Playa del Carmen

The location of this resort is perfect if you love to shop or just relax. The staff were very accomodating. The rooms were clean, the grounds were kept up. The food was great. They had a different theme for dinner every night. They had a show almost every night. I parasailed for the first time ever. What a blast!!!! The bar closed at either midnight or 1:00 AM, but they have a 24 hour self serve bar there also. The beds were very comfortable. They had different night club visits, were they take you and pick you up. It was a little pricey for my liking but all in all it was worth it.

with very few exceptions, the people where fantastic. the service was great. The food was not as good as I expected, but I didn't lose any weight.The beach, the hotel all made for a great trip. I won't go back only because of the 'bait and switch' routine with our room. They claimed our rooms where not available but we could 'up-grade'for $30. a night. When I told them I wanted the room I had origanally paid for, they showed me a room that faced the back ally.I paid the extra money, but thats the last they'll get out of me.

Needless to say my wife and I always look forward to our vacation at the Gran Porto. We find the staff to be very accomadating in every way. We have recommended Gran Porto Real to friends and family over the years resulting in 8 to 10 of us returning over the years. We are planning for another trip this year Jan 27 to Feb 10 2008 and hope to get first floor ,street side, even number like 142,126,128. Any consideration for this request would be appreciated. the hotel was clean, staff was extremely friendly and accomodating, food was excellent beautiful beaches, the hotel rooms were very nice, spacious, clean and relaxing one of the best we've stayed at. deffinately planning on returning...............

This was our first time here. We loved our room and the staff was great. We stayed here May 10 - 16th and there were not a lot of children, which was nice for us. The only thing I was not impressed about was the food, but I did not go there for that. The food was adequate. The alcoholic drinks were weak until I monitored the bar tenders who made my drinks for me. Then they were much better. We would absolutely go back!

My wife and I just returned from two weeks in this great hotel. This hotel is actually better than the travel brochures show. I guess the most satisfying aspect of the trip was the workers in the hotel from the reception desk to the maintenance workers all were incredably friendly and efficient. we did not find any that did not give their best to make our trip a happy vacation. The food in all of the three restaurant fully met our expectations with the usual great service. While the beach is still not great since the last hurricane it is being rebuilt daily however on the other side of the pier at The Royal the beach is excellent. I would just like to request that guest try to be as friendly as the hotel staff, I witnessed too many people treating staff like slaves, please treat the workers as you wish to be treated with respect and kindness. You are in their country not the U.S.

NEGATIVES Rooms as booked were not allocated and required an extra payment to obtain Lunch and dinner meals virtually identical and very little choice, bland and meat sometimes inedible Meals in the italian and mexican restaurants was served cold - we had to send plates back Had to climb down a wall of sandbags to access the sea Pool entertainment too loud, repetitive and inane. Pool sunbeds too cramped and close - go onto the beach its much better Dont try the room internet - never works wardrobe and storage space very limited POSITIVES Good big rooms if u can get them Book a high room - better views - also more secure as maids leave patio doors unlocked Maid service in room - impeccable Breakfast meals are best of the day Pool towel service is great Efficient air con in rooms Huge showers in bathrooms - dont go for a jaccuzi - too dangerous in rooms - they have marble floors - one guest broke leg slipping on floor when we were there Mini bar stocked daily with water beer and soft drinks - all free with all inclusive

We got married there in May of 2004 and every thing was taken care of for us. THe staff was great and the rooms were awsome. What can I say about the view......Its the most beautiful place in the world. We have been going back every May for our anniversary, and we get treated as if we are getting married all over again, with roses, drinks, and candle light dinners. I cant say enough about Carlos (the main man) he took care of us the entire 7 days. Thanks buddy. I will see you in May of 08. Cant wait to go back.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE the Gran Porto Real! If you stay here make sure to do the All Inclusive Deal! It was so nice to be able to wake up and stroll down to the restaurant and eat whenever we wanted to. From there go out to the pool and find a lounge chair and order a nice cold beer. Swim, drink, eat and suntan all day, go back to the room for a nap and a shower then hit 5th Avenue for some shopping & dinner! We had such a relaxing vacation here in Playa Del Carmen and we are booked to go back in August! Can't wait!!

Not only was the beach beautiful, the hotel staff wonderful, and the room oh-so-comfy, I had the best cheeseburger of my life lying under the Caribbean stars. This place was magical, and I will treasure my experience there, always.
