Superb 3-Day Getaway Experience
By ,
Perfect 3-day getaway experience with other families/friends; left the place wanting to stay longer. Booked a "Junior Suite" for the family that was very clean, plenty of room, and a very cold air conditioner (nice!). Very relaxing resort, great poolside service, and great food, great hospitality. Very interesting were other comments by folks complaining about the food... don't be confused by their gripes, the food is elegantly presented in the hotel restaurants and the buffet food is as good as any in the US (in a similar class facility). The booze service is just fine for a tropical location such as this (no, your not going to get "top-shelf", big-city selections... again, its a beach destination). Locally booked a day trip to the Mayan ruins (Chichen Itza; very cool). Having traveled to many exotic places to include Thailand, Philippines, Hawaii, Europe, (and Key West), this place is as fun & enjoyable as any of those, with a far more tolerable plane ride. Highly recommended; we'd definately come back again, especially with friends and family.

Fun in the sun with friends
By ,
This was our first all inclusive trip and first to Mexico. We travelled with 4 other couples which made it fun. My husband and I opted for the Oceanview rooms to sleep with the sound of the ocean. Little did we know that the strip, one block away, would play techno music until the early morning hours. The food was not good. There were limited restaurants to select from on the resort. The drinks were watered down but Lorenzo and Jose was the BEST bartender ever. The cleaning service forgot to make our beds and leave us decorated towels but we still had a great time with our friends. The view is absolutely breath taking and its just a short distance to the shopping stripe.

Me and 30 of my friends went on our highschool graduation trip here...it was wonderful...as many drinks as you could drink...plenty of sun...bad food...(i just grabbed a loaf of bread usually) and fun pools, (tranquil/tequila pool was way too much fun!) and clubs galore all in a short walk!

BUEN SERVICIO, cuidado al rentar auto
By ,

Perfect vacation from beginning to end!
By ,
Our stay at Gran Porto Real was, as always, perfect. The resort has the feel of real luxury yet casual enough not to be pretentious. The most ideal thing about the resort is the staff, each of whom make guests feel valued and appreciated. On of the best things about this resort is the location. It is within walking distance of downtown Playa. Yet, once inside the resort or beachside on the grounds, you feel that you are away from anything resembling a city and truly in a beachside paradise. If you want to be assured of the best ocean view, get an ocean "front" suite...ocean "view" rooms may have an obstucted view of the ocean and/or be on the avenue side of the resort. If you are on a budget or don't stay in your room much, the standard rooms look very nice and are a good value (but no ocean view). What a choice in food...the Albatross Restaurant (elegant and extensive buffet), Maria's Restaurant (Mexican) and Pescatore's Restaurant (Italian) and numerous snack bars. The resort food is exceptional, in all restaurants the presentation is something out of a magazine and your wait staff will be the icing on the cake. We chose to have most meals in the buffet and usually blessed to have a marvelous waiter named Dion. His service was impecable. Dion is a charming young man with a warm smile and cheerful attitude. He never seemed to tire of giving us Spanish lessons when we asked or giving advice about the Mexican Riviera or Mexico in general. The housekeeping - perfect also. Patricia kept our room spotless and our refrigerator filled with the items we needed most. Her swans sculpted out of towels were especially appreciated. You could tell she took her time to give everything that personal touch. At the resort you will probably have the pleasure of meeting Monserat, the patient woman at the money exchange. Despite my repeated math errors and inability to ask accurately for change, Monserat never lost her sense of humor or beautiful smile. I have no qualms about recommending the Gan Porto Real. The experience from beginning to end was a true pleasure. The one thing nicer than the accomodations and the location is the staff; you will never meet a finer group of people anywhere. The only problem I encountered during my stay was feeling incredibly sad to leave and knowing that I will not be able to return until next year.

The perfect hotel!
By ,
Several years ago, my hubby and I were booked at the Real (the budget version of the porto) and we were upgraded free of charge to the Gran Porto . What a fabulous surprise! And we have been going to back to the Porto ever since! We even bring our kids, 13, 14, 21 each summer to stay for a week. And it has never failed us! We get the absolute best all-inclusive service! Since we have to book 2 rooms for our family, they have always got our rooms as close together as possible! The beach service is impeccable and Pablo and Jesus remember us and takes care of us with each visit! The food is good, we really enjoy Marias restuarant (just one note, stay away from the cold cut meat, our oldest got sick). Rooms are simply gorgeous and representative of true Mexican culture. And the Maid service is just lovely with animals made out of towels with rose petals on the bed. If you ever have a chance to stay here, I highly recommend it! It is always a trip our family will never forget each year!

we would staythere again had a wonderful time.
By ,
we like everything about the gran porto, the rooms very spacious and beautiful, we had room oceanview, the nighlty theatre shows were awesome, as well as the live music in the lounge.the sports and entertainment staff did a awesome job.resort is very close to 5th ave,so we could leave the resort for a short time, close for shopping.the only thing we disliked was theinvitation for a free breakfast at thr royal playa del carmen the resort across the street, because its a timeshare scam that your not told about before, and the want to see your credit card before you go.they said it would take 90 min. but we were there for 4 hours, i was so mad .
