Embassy Hotel and Suites, Ottawa

Went in ottawa for a catshow, hotel was under major repair but never told us at the reservation. room was OK but had stains on seeling, walls, and carpet! hallways was cover of plastic to hide all the electric work and the hole everywere. Was effraid to loose my cat over there! Very expensive and no pool, no nothing, just a room. People at front desk were rude.

The room I stayed in was fairly nice. However, the man at the front desk was rather rude to me when I checked in because I live in Ottawa and I am young, so he warned me that they don't allow parties. I had already explained to him that there were repairs going on at my apartment and so I couldn't stay there, he acted as if I owed him an explanation for why I was paying to stay at their hotel. I didn't appreciate the insinuation that I would disrespect their property or the other guests by having a party, just because I am a student. I didn't take advantage of the room service or restaurants, so I can't review those, but I can mention that I found a bed bug in my bed and had to be switched to a new room. I didn't find anything in the new room, so maybe it was just a fluke, but I wouldn't stay there again after being treated so rudely by the staff.

When booking in this hotel with your family, be aware of the following points: 1. There is no swimming pool (you can get the same room in a hotel in two minutes walking distance of this hotel with swimming pool at the same rate). 2. Dinning room is closed in weekends and holidays. 3. There is no free internet in the lobby (my first experience of this kind in Canada and outside Canada, either in hotels cheaper than this). 4. There is not enough parking spots for all guests, so most probably you will end up to park in a pay parking lot close to hotel or at the park-o-meters (I think they assign hotel parking spots to gusts who are staying a week or more with them). 5. Be prepared to deal with rude receptionists (every time you talk to them or ask for something they will treat you with an attitude like they are saying “this is our hotel and conditions, you can’t get a better one with this rate, if you can, go ahead”.) 6. The rooms are excellent. 7. Location is excellent because of proximity to all attraction points.

The only problem was that my reservation was not received when I arrived, but the staff of the hotel was very helpful in trying to resolve the situation. That was the only problem I had there. The rest of my stay there was very nice. The room was spacious and clean, the food in the restaurant was tasty and the service in general was very good.
