We would stay here again...
The location is fantastic, right across the street from the beach. We could hear the waves crashing from our room at night. It is within a 5 min walk of one of La Jolla's upscale shopping areas, though mixed in with some standard T-shirt and souvenir shops. We enjoyed the restaurants, as well, especially the sushi joint.
Our room was spacious, clean, smelled nice. The decor was contemporary and made us feel at home. The door lock was archaic and tricky to open, but durable. The wi-fi is fast and strong.
The continental breakfast was lame, consisting of just pastries, packaged oatmeal and juice. The lobby was small, and there was no place to sit there to enjoy the breakfast, though there was an upstairs patio if you were willing to carry your breakfast up there.
Parking was available, but tight. There are only 5 spots, so book early if you need one.
During the night, there is no on-site manager. You need to call on a phone outside the lobby door for any sort of help. It connects you to a different inn, presumably maintained by the same owners. This only came up because we arrived very late for check-in, and we needed to call for assistance. They person on the other line did not have information readily available, and given that we were exhausted, it was a bit annoying to have to wait to get into our room.
The on-site managers were nice and professional, but ultimately we felt that some of their niceties were disingenuous. Still, we didn't interact with them very much, so we could be wrong.
