Great location but can be quiet noisy
By GailL, 10/4/09
Unfortunately, we have spent the entire weekend, which was suppose to be relaxing and peaceful, listening to a group of 20 women here for a reunion talking, drinking, laughing. From first thing in the morning until 11:30 pm. It hasn't stopped and we have not been able to enjoy the veranda or be outside and watch the sunset. Very disappointing. You will not enjoy your stay if you come when there is a large group here.

We would stay here again...
By Stephen, 3/22/09
The location is fantastic, right across the street from the beach. We could hear the waves crashing from our room at night. It is within a 5 min walk of one of La Jolla's upscale shopping areas, though mixed in with some standard T-shirt and souvenir shops. We enjoyed the restaurants, as well, especially the sushi joint. Our room was spacious, clean, smelled nice. The decor was contemporary and made us feel at home. The door lock was archaic and tricky to open, but durable. The wi-fi is fast and strong. The continental breakfast was lame, consisting of just pastries, packaged oatmeal and juice. The lobby was small, and there was no place to sit there to enjoy the breakfast, though there was an upstairs patio if you were willing to carry your breakfast up there. Parking was available, but tight. There are only 5 spots, so book early if you need one. During the night, there is no on-site manager. You need to call on a phone outside the lobby door for any sort of help. It connects you to a different inn, presumably maintained by the same owners. This only came up because we arrived very late for check-in, and we needed to call for assistance. They person on the other line did not have information readily available, and given that we were exhausted, it was a bit annoying to have to wait to get into our room. The on-site managers were nice and professional, but ultimately we felt that some of their niceties were disingenuous. Still, we didn't interact with them very much, so we could be wrong.

A Hidden Gem
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/20/08
Scripps Inn is my favorite option in La Jolla. No other hotel can compare to this view and location - truly, it sits right on the cliff overlooking a sea of blue. Nice linens and a well appointed room. Plus, Aveda bath products. No airconditioning because it's not needed with the ocean breeze. You'll wake to the sound of the ocean. Nothing too fancy - not a resort or even a B&B, just rooms with a small lobby area (about the size of a large walk-in closet). You feel like a local. Breakfast is a tray of fresh french bakery treats with juices. Staff is friendly and helpful - great restaurant suggestions.

Perfect place for weddings
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/07
ON 5-12-07 We Had Our Daughters wedding across the street at cuvier park. From the moment i made the reservations with Mr. Omar til the time we packed up and left, you couldn't of asked for a more perfect place to stay. the rooms were great, the service was exceptional and the view was breathtaking. I highly recommend anyone that is having a wedding a Cuvier Park or just wants a romantic place to stay to choose the "Scripps Inn". On a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 12 in my book. Thanks for makin our wedding and our weekend so memorable!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful view - affordable, awesome!
By KateM, 3/26/06
We loved staying at the Scripps Inn. We just popped in and asked the price, the host gave us a reduced rate for a lovely room. The room was great, and quiet. There were pastries in the morning too, which was nice.....The location is unbelievable! Right across the street from the Pacific, where several weddings happened during our brief stay. The host also gave us excellent suggestions for dinner and places to visit. All in all, we loved it and would return in a minute!

Wonderful Stay!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/05
Fantastic place right across the street from a park and cliffs overlooking the ocean and beach!!! Will go again and again... No room service though...remember it's an inn not a hotel with concierge service.

Read This Before Staying
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/05
The location is spectacular, and the staff was friendly and polite. That's about all this inn has on the positive side for us. A cold night prompted us to turn on the heat. It took some time before we figured out it was the heater that was making the occasional huge banging noises, causing us to fly out of bed. (Sounded much like a gun shot.) Had to turn it off and spend a very chilly night huddled under 2 blankets. Even if you go in warmer weather and don't need heat, this inn may not be your best value. It's more like an outdated, somewhat shabby motel with carpet in need of replacing and sparse rather unattractive furnishings, especially for the cost! Even the breakfast was disappointing, dry and flavorless pastries. This was not the highlight of our trip.

Nice and clean
By Mithrandir, 3/6/04
It's a sweet hotel nothing exceptional realy, but location worth the price. Nice, clean & quiet hotel. It's located across the street from the beach. Makes it realy easy to have a nice walk. We also walked to all the nice La Jolla shops and restaurants. The scenery is beautiful. If you wake up early enough you'll even find a good selection in a breakfast room.

Location (3 times)
By игрок, 3/6/04
A nice cozy small hotel. There is not much to it except it's superb oceanfront location. Nice rooms but no luxury one would expect for this kind of money. Make sure your room is actually facing the ocean, at least you will know what you're paying for.
