Stoney Creek Inn & Conference Center, Galena

LIke: Clean, safe, nicely decorated, decent pool and Jacuzzi, decent breakfast buffet, decent price (value) Dislike: NO elevator (think lugging suitcases up and down stairs), no computer for guests to use, dingy lighting in the room, no refrigerator or microwave in the room, no fruit on the breakfast buffet

If you are a Harley biker you'll love this place - if not - do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. This motel is located right near the local Harley dealer and was jampacked with Hog lovers - who were loud, crude, rude and practically took over the whole place. They were loud and rude and drinking in the swimming pool area - they were partying in the lobby and hallways until 2am. They ignored a personal request for quiet - and my call to the front desk didn't seem to do much good either. Too bad too, because otherwise it was a very nice motel. We stay in Galena several times a year - they won't get our repeat business!

Definitely liked the proximity to Dubuque/Galena as it was nicely situated. Continental breakfasts were nice but make sure you're there before 6:30am! "Game" room wasn't anything special and we had to get refunded for lost change from machines eating the coins. Pool area was nice but was like an oven in that area. All-in-all, not a bad place for people looking to tighten the belt for hotel accomodations on your vacation. No elevators so beware if you have many bags.

no soap or shampoo was left in room after the first day. when i asked for some i was told that they don't leave it because the occupants STEAL it. How do you steal something that you pay for in renting the room? the breakfast was typical except the donuts were the worst that i have ever been offered.some of the staff was friendly and others acted like they were disgruntled.

A great place to stay. Staff was courteous and helpful. Free breakfast was great. Pool & hottub were perfect, common areas clean. I will stay here again.

We had reserved a room at a local Bed & Breakfast, but when we arrived, they had given our room to someone else! We ended up at the Stoney Creek Inn, and asked to see a room. It was SO much better than the B&B one we had reserved, and $60 less! We just loved the decor, alot of attention to detail. The staff was friendly & helpful. We can't wait to go back!

The staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. Will never stay there again. Decor of the Inn is tacky. The Inn is in a poor location, not close to anything.

The place is an awesome family hotel. The pool is so much fun with pine trees and rocks, and wood carvings. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help.

I stayed here on my honeymoon and it was awesome! I had a sweet and soft bed, a great jacuzzi and I wonderful free breakfast. I didn't even want to leave the room! The only thing wrong was that the treadmill in the excercise room was broken but I used the other equipment instead and that worked just fine. Also, the staff was very friendly and funny. It was a great visit!

It's a new hotel, so your expectations may be higher, but you will be disappointed. First of all, the place consistently overpromises and underdelivers. They promise an indoor/outdoor pool. No, it's a smallish, purely indoor pool (kinda cool pool room, for what it's worth, but the "patio" offers a great view of the pole-barn convention center next door). Second, the location: overlooking the new brand strip mall, IL. driver's license examining facility and Piggly Wiggly. It's not exactly inspiring. Ugh. Third, they don't keep up with the cleaning in many key places (read: the pool and some common areas). Fourth: breakast (and I use the term loosely) ends at 9:30AM. Now, I realize some people may get up early while at home, but on a vacation, many folks value the chance to sleep in. If this is the case, don't plan on getting your free weak nasty coffee and cheap starches. The staff is friendly (Very. We liked them a lot), but CLEARLY stretched way too thin. They need to hire a few more hands. Bonus: if you like live ants, either for scientific purposes or just for that whole "rustic" feel, then this is the place for you. Nothing like watching your swimming goggles being carried off by a swarm of angry bugs. Finally, the place looks like L.L. Bean threw up. I understand decorating for atmosphere, but there are limits to this sort of thing. This place clearly goes too far. In short, it is way over-priced for what you get. Lots of other hotels in Galena. Please try one of them.
