Not bad - but probably won't stay there again...
By ,
What i like - the breakfast was great! Plenty to choose from. Something for everyone. Get there early caues seating is limited. Even though its not ON the riverwalk - its close enough (about 4 blocks). Its about a block from the Market Square which was nice! The A/C worked great! What I dislike - Historic building - no - more like run down. Parking was only $10 a day (which is great for that area) but the lot closest to the hotel only has about 20 spots (we were there a weeken the hotel was booked solid). The other parking area is on the next block w/ a pathway to the hotel (but you probably don't want to walk through there at night). The room was small - not that big of a deal since all we did was sleep there. The bed was only half made - pillows were just thrown in the closet. When I called to let them know we only had 2 hand towels in the bathroom they said we could come down and get more (thought they would have brought them to us since we had just checked in 5 min earlier). The pool is very small - 2 or 3 kids jumping around was ok - but any more than that and you'll want to leave. The hotel was ok - but really only worth $50 a night.

Clean the Floors
By ,
Hotel was only moderate for accomadations for the price. I stay all over the US for work and decided to take the family for a weekend. Hotel was just OK - Bottom Line we walked around in white socks and in a short time - They becam almost BLACK in a matter of minutes. Location is great for the River Walk and Market Square and only 30 minutes to Sea World and Fiesta Texas.. 2 out 5 - just because the floor was so bad..

The Worst Customer Service I've Ever Experienced
By ,
First of all... I had 220 dollars stolen from my wallet which was hidden in my bag while we were out. I was told it was my fault and anything left in my room was fair game. My calls were screened for two days and I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone at the front desk unless I called from a hidden number. Then once I got through with a hidden number the girl at the front desk would tell me that the terrible manager "Crystal" was really busy... this went on for two days after I first reported it. I made dozens of phone calls and left many messages. The only way I got her on the phone was to tell the girl at the front desk to leave me on hold all day until Crystal would talk to me. I was put on hold for another ten minutes before I was told that I would be forwarded to Crystal's cell phone. Crystal told me it didn't happen unless there was proof and that I was making wild accusations and "I" was in the wrong... not the hotel or the staff. Other than that... the sheets weren't even pulled up under the comforter which had been straightened. We were always given only two towels for four people and when I called to ask for more they told me I'd have to come down and get them... The pool was unsafe, the water was two inches below the tile and the pump was off. The lights were never on at night which is against code and there were pool chemicals on the deck where kids could get into them. The spa jets wouldn't turn on and it couldn't be heated without breaking into the equipment room which was unlocked. Oh also it was smaller than any backyard pool I've ever seen. Our room had water stains under the AC unit. I called to ask if they had coffee filters and I was told no... then the next morning I clearly saw a whole stack of coffee filters in the kitchen where they do the continental breakfast. The fitness center (LOL) has a three arobic machines and a mirror. Once again Crystal is the worst human being I've ever encountered If I could give this place a lower star rating I would

Nice place with nice rates!
By ,
This hotel is very nice. I'm adding these comments from one of their rooms now, actually (Rm. 418). The room is very clean and has modern amenities with a historic feel (like the very old windows!) The A/C works great. The entire hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly. I didn't realize that the hotel is not right on the Riverwalk, but it is only a few blocks, so no big deal. They didn't say anything to me about having to pay to park. They simply asked me if I have a car here and when I said "yes" they handed me a parking pass to hang in the mirror. Even at $10 a day, that is nothing. Chicago over the weekend was $50 per day, so it is all relative! I would definitely recommend this hotel, but before you come, make sure you analyze the map closely because all 3 times that I've left the parking lot and then come back, I have a hard time finding Camaron Street. HAHA. I've gotten more lost in this city than in any other city I've ever been (including in Vietnam and Japan, and in London and Paris). I'm all turned around here, so I'm issuing fair warning to you about that. Otherwise, this is a great hotel and definitely recommend it!

Very historic
By ,
We enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and very spacious. The room has a historic feeling, not to mention, has the original windows ands is made very solid. I did not like paying 10 bucks for parking, since I payed for the room. They were very accomodating. We area family of 5 and although the two beds were good sized, not enough for three mid -sized children, so they quickly brought us a roll-away bed for our third child. It is not in the best area, but I felt safe. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay here again. Within walking distance of the Alamo and Riverwalk.

Scary Stay
By ,
The hotel is conviently located near the Riverwalk. However, the hotel is a dive. The first room smelled of mold and the air conditioner would not cool the room. The on duty clerk did move us to a bigger room to make up for this inconvience. The second room was cleaner, but the air conditioner did not cool the room, the toilet was backed up and the shower head needed cleaning. I spoke with the desk clerk and once again she tried to make things right. While at the front desk several customers came in to complain about their cars being burglarized. At this point we stayed the night and moved the next day. I did speak with the manager and expressed my dissatisfaction. She was nice and promptly refunded the money. This hotel would probably be okay during the cooler months of the year when air conditioning is not a factor and the vagrants are in shelters. I will not stay in this hotel again. Once again the staff was great this is just an old building.

Very dissappointed
By ,
Our room was very small and furniture was old. Wall was water stained from AC unit that was near the ceiling. Looked nothing like the pictures posted on yahoo, except the mirror. Talked to GM, left her know dissatified and there for our anniversary. She pulled up pictures and apologized because the pictures were incorrect. She upgraded us to a suite and we were very grateful. Our stay was 5 days. Housekeeping never changed our sheets. Never changed the liner in ice bucket. Mirror was never cleaned. Didn't empty our trash the day before we left although both were overflowing. And placed dirty towels in one our chairs and let them there. Not sure if they are the same towels they were hitting each other with in the hallway. The AC would not cool past 73. We advised the GM, she said it because of the outdoor temperatures, but the hallway was cooling to 65 degrees. Will never stay here again.

4+ star hotel experience
By ,
This recent acquisition by Holiday Inn Express should have a 4 star rating at a minimum by travel companies who rate them. We chose the hotel for it's close proximity to the Riverwalk, value price, amenities and the positive reviews we read. There is a very small pool and a hot tub connected to it, that was not heated (for whatever reason). The rooms are simply standard rooms, but VERY NICE for $90ish/night. They had an excellent hot/cold breakfast buffet bar with several choices that varied from day to day. Make no mistake, THIS is the hotel for your family or business trip if you are in need of a superbly clean room with nice new everything, a wonderfully caring and knowledgeable staff, and just under 1/2 mile walk from the Riverwalk. The parking lot is across the narrow 1 lane (1 way) street and does cost $8 a day, which is a bargain for $24hr. surveillance. You can come and go as you wish, AND the lot is right AT THE DOOR...closer than most hotel parking. There is a skanky-looking area a block or so to the West, but there is no need to walk that direction. We found no down side to this hotel, unless you need a large pool or a suite. They have earned my return business, that is FOR SURE!

Really enjoyed our stay
By ,
My husband and I stayed at the Comfort Inn Alamo/Riverwalk on our honeymoon and it was fantastic. The rooms are nice (pretty standard hotel fare) the continental breakfast in the morning was one of the best I've had. We were on the first floor the first night and asked to be moved to a higher floor for the remainder of our stay; the hotel staff moved us and upgraded our room at no extra charge. They were extremely helpful. It's not on the Riverwalk, but it's only a couple of blocks away. You do need to pay for parking, but it's not very steep. I'm planning another trip to San Antonio this year and have already made reservations to stay here again. I highly recommend this hotel.
