Not the place for a good night's sleep

The hotel is a new property, something I always look for when traveling. New hotels are cleaner and the beds more comfortable.
The common areas such as the lobby and the pool are clean and very well maintained. The location is VERY convenient, located just about a block away from the mall in LaCrosse (and all the businesses that go along with being by a mall) and right off 90. If you need to stop over on a road trip, this is the perfect location.
HOWEVER, besides being clean, when I stay in a hotel, I expect to be able to sleep. No such luck here. The hotel is incredibly poorly constructed. When children would run by, the whole room would shake. It's as if the whole floor of the hotel is one giant piece of sheet metal with just the carpet over the top. We were on the third floor (the top floor), thank goodness. I can only imagine how loud it must have been for those on the floors below us.
Sleeping in the bed was very uncomfortable and I woke up several times in the night because I was twisted up in the sheets. The next morning, I looked at the sheets and realized that the maid put a top sheet on the bed that was two sizes too small and to compensate, put it on sideways.
The green neon lights on the building shine through the draperies. (Very reminiscent of the Seinfeld episode when Kenny Rogers Chicken moved in across the street from his building.)
You should also be aware that there are no closets. However, the room does have an ironing board and an iron.
However, you can't beat the price. It just doesn't get more inexpensive for a safe, clean, and comfortable hotel.
If you check in at night.... watch the bats! They congregate by the front door, swooping close enough where you feel the rush of air! Yikes!
Anyone should feel comfortable staying here. It's DEFINITELY a fantastic hotel for families. The children will LOVE the decor. A female traveling alone would also feel comfortable here. (I noticed security cameras throughout the hotel hallways and it is in a safe neighborhood.) Just be sure to request a room on the third floor, otherwise people simply WALKING on the floors above will be loud enough to be annoying.
