AKA: IKEA RESORT! (Must have gotten a great deal on furishing the rooms at IKEA!)
For all of you families, this is not a kid friendly resort. We walk in the room and the funerature looked like IKEA.. My son burnt his hand on a floor lamp. $4 for a cup of milk $7 small water $11 large water 2 Kids meals and 2 drinks came to $45 AC didn't work. Tub was slipperly Bathroom door looked like an mental hospital. No one knew what the pictures represented on the door. Nice Plasma tv - that was the best. I can't believe I paid $266 / night and had a plastic waste basket. Iron didn't work. Internet wireless worked off and on. Back to AC, it is one of those wall units that Hotel 6 has. The room size was smaller than Hotel 6

modern but cozy
By gretchenl, 5/23/05
The James Hotel is just what Scottsdale needed. A new trendy, modern hotel right in the heart of old town, cowboy Scottsdale. The rooms, spa and pool are fabulous. The staff are friendly and courteous. The hotel even though modern is cozy and comfortable. The James is definately a return visit kind of place. New, modern, fun- great pool and bar right in the heart of Scottsdale, a must-stay-at hotel.

Wow!!! Amazing
By Mark, 5/19/05
The hotel is super trendy and modern looking. Everyone hangs out there on weekends to start off the night. It's got LA, New York and Miami mix of crowds.

You'll forget you're in the middle of a huge city
By s f, 9/13/05
What an excellent place to get away for a night or two!!!! Trendy rooms, tropical relaxation pool and a larger pool reminiscent of an MTV spring break episode. . . this hotel has something for most people. Whether it be looking at a bunch of bikini-clad bodies or enjoying some quiet by the relaxation pool, you'll enjoy the pool scene. Oh, yeah, and try their sangria (but be careful :)) The rooms are spectacular - the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on. . . great music, TV. Overall, the rooms have excellent decor - modern, tasteful, sexy, fun! Lastly, the restaurant is wonderful! Food, ambiance, service - all excellent. I absolutely can't wait to go back!!!

Full of them selves
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/11/06
Worst hotel in Scottsdale. The staff think they are better than you are and the place is very dirty. The restaurant service was terrable. I did like the wine list and the cocktail servers were plesent but also lacking in the abality to give quality service. Stay away

Worst Experience Ever
By Anna, 4/16/07
I have been to Scottsdale for Spring Training for 10 years and have never had such a bad hotel experience. Not only had I made the reservation 4 months ahead of time but when we checked in not they were unable to accomadate us with the room reserved but were unable to move us to another room for the remainding nights. When paying upwards of $450/night I do not expect to sleep on a blow up mattress. When discussing the issue with management they were totally unhelpful, and if we decided to move to another hotel said they would help us out and not charge us a cancellation fee. The rudeness extending to the bar manager. I would never stay at this hotel again nor recommend this to anyone.

Old hotel with a bad paint job
By Jessica, 5/20/08
Rooms were TERRIBLE. This hotel looks like a bad reno job. They should have paid more attention in renovating the rooms. I paid $165, definitely not worth it. Maybe at $100 for a younger couple looking for a more modern style hotel but other then that, look elsewhere!

Serious Good Time!
By Michelle Calhoun, 6/17/09
Recently stayed with a group of girl friends that were visiting...and boy am I glad I did! this place is amazing and we just had such a good time. The staff was really kind and super helpful, and the property is just gorgeous (and so are the people who stay there!!!). We had a nice relaxing Friday afternoon by the pool and played at their bars (Midnight Room / Red bar) that evening...so much fun. They have pool parties on the weekend apparently in the summer which didn't bother us at all! we had a really great time and the DJ's were awesome! other than the fun quotient the hotel is located in the middle of everything and that it really easy for us to get around without a car. I LOVE this place and will definitely be coming back regardless...it was the best vacation in my own back yard I've had in years!!!!

Don't be fooled
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/21/08
i ate dinner here during the FBr last year, 2007 and it was the worst service i've ever experienced. the staff didn't know what they were doing. they hired a bunch of dumb girls to come around and do nothing. i asked for a glass of wine about 20 times and never got it. it's like they didnt know what to do?? their food is extremely expensive and just OK. we had to order more shrimp because it didnt fill me up. we had the surf & turf, disappointing and it cost $65. don't bother eating here. it's not worth it. also the hotel is impossible to find. there is a nice breakfast place around the corner, can't recall the name, but it's was great. it has an outside patio, i think on N. Buckboard.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!!!!!!
By LADYT36, 5/21/07
The Mondrian is more for singles/the young crowd. Not a family hotel. First of all, it was almost impossible to find, not signs at all!!!!! Then they try to push valet parking on you. Overpriced, not like the pictures at all. More of a motel than hotel.....would not stay here again. The lobby is very nice, but the room fixtures are very cheap....bathroom nothing like the picture on the website. The bed has a black baseboard around it that if you are not careful will leave a nasty mark. I have a bruise on my calf to prove it. It seems like they tried to imitate "The Hotel" in Vegas, but they have a long long way to get there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
