Pono Kai Resort, Kapaa

There are two different companies that manage this resort. A great company manages the timeshare section of this resort and I have nothing bad to say about them. The other group is Marc Resorts. I would not recommend booking with Marc Resorts. I stayed in a privately owned condo managed by them at Pono Kai. Only one manager who works 8am-5pm. We arrived during her lunch and had to wait for her to come back to check in (1 1/2 hours!). Dishwasher didn't work; stove only one working burner. Ceiling fans not working correctly. One only had super slow speed, and other had to be plugged and unplugged from outlet (wall switch connected to it did not work; this is an electrical hazard). The manager had 2 floor fans, one which was dirty and full of grime. Security for the sliding lanai door was a PVC pipe! It is obvious that no regular maintenance is performed on this condo. Too many problems with it to be "normal" wear and tear. I contacted the Marc Resorts Honolulu office and left a message. They never returned my call. I left 3 days early on a prepaid package and stayed at another resort (extra cost to me, but conditions were intolerable). I have stayed at other islands in hotels and condos. This place was the worst. If you plan to visit Kauai, stay someplace else. The island and the people are great!
