Dutch Design Hotel Artemis, Amsterdam

We stayed at the hotel for a week and we keep really good memories from it. The staff is really friendly. You can have breakfast by a water pond where ducks will try to steal your food!!, just too funny. It's not close to the city but, hey, if you are a tourist just enjoy the daily tram ride (10-15 minutes). Rooms are quite big and really clean. Breakfast is fine but just don't try scramble eggs...try apple juice ( dutch people seem to love it) Taking a taxi from the Airport might be a bit expensive, try the hotel shuttle instead. Enjoy it!

This hotel was overall very impressive! very clean and rooms spacious. Onr thing to beware of is that on arrival you will be asked to pay a deposit? This is for drinks you "might" use from the mini bar. This deposit is 60 euro's per night and I knew nothing about this before arriving so I had to use my debit card to pay this deposit. I have been home for 4 days and have yet to receive my money back. Why can't these places keep your passport and if you consume any drinks from the bar you must pay before receiving your passport back!!! (we can't leave the country without it) This hotel is mainly used by business types. A friend asked a member of staff if the hotel had any entertainment in the evenings, he was told that there were paintings and art decco furniture!!! Not my kind of entertainment. The hotel is only 1 year old and I think some of the staff have just joined as they still have alot to learn about customer service!! I also ordered a plate of chips from the restaurant and after about 30mins I was still waiting, I asked a member of staff to find out what had happened and he came back to tell me they lost the slip my order was on!!. I woudn't have minded if the place was busy but I was the only person in the restaurant ordering!!! Come on!!! Be prepared to walk. This hotel is about 10mins drive from the airport and is in the middle of a business park, no shops at all! This hotel has top marks for cleanliness but this deposit your asked to pay must stop. Hotel Artemis is not for normal "joe bloggs" If you do choose to go here, please take extra cash that will be returned to you on the day you leave, don't use a debit/credit card as it will take at least 10 days to get the money back.
