Courtyard by Marriott West Orange, West Orange

I was on the first floor, and it sounded like a bowling alley in the room above me.

I stayed only one night and was charged for two. Of course, that could have been due to the confusion during my checkout. I had an 'incident' to report. It seems that the bathroom designer cared more about aesthetics than safety. The bathtub did not have non-slip stickers, nor was there a rubber bathmat provided. As I like to shower with soap (like most people), the tub became slippery. I fell forward onto my left shoulder and knee. If I hadn't jerked back my head in time, I would have been hospitalized with a cracked skull. Or worse. The manager on duty took down an incident report, but neglected to check me out of the room properly. If you must stay here, make sure you bring a rubber mat to put in the shower. Oh, and the way to turn on the shower is completely retarded. You have to reach down to the water faucet for the tub and pull part of that downward. Apparently, the bathroom is supposed to have a sticker that gives instructions for this. Mine did not. It took my boyfriend and I twenty minutes (with the help of the front desk) to figure out how to work it. Why would you choose tub fixtures that need instructions on how to work them?! Oh, my shoulder? It's been two weeks since that night - and it's still purple and brown!

I only spent a night at the Courtyard by Marriott (West Orange) Phone line was not working, there is no room service. After check out I realized that I forget a gift in a drawer. I quickly called the front desk asking the person to go get the gift and check the envelope for me. She did not hesitate to say that there is only half of the money. Meaning that she took the money because room service was not done yet. When we called the police. One of the policeman said:" this is not the first time we had issues with this hotel". The managers did not show any interest in the case. What a shame!

My Daughter made reservations months in advance of her October '07 wedding. Several Blocks of rooms as well as one for her father and me. We attended her reception returned to our room, slept the night, arose early and returned home. When my Daughter got back from her honeymoon she was checking her e-mail and found the final statement for our room. As expected we were charge our fee for the night following our 9am check-out and (Unexpectedly) at 9:45am we were charged $250.00 for 'smoking' in our room!! Although we are smokers we DID NOT smoke in the room, we do not even smoke in our own Home! It took days to get a hold of a manager and following her 'review' she said she would not remove the charge. She told us the maid found an empty pack of cigarettes in the trash and the room 'smelled' of smoke.---no cigarette butts or ashes were noted. This is a scary tale indeed. I agreed upon taking the room we would not smoke in it, and we did not. This story is far from over, But I just wanted to warn others. Smokers Beware!!
