Going back again in October!
Fabulous rooms - spacious, crisp, comfortable, well appointed! Luxurious beds. Very fancy, high tech, room control system - a little fidgety, but gives you something to play with if you are bored. Excellent service & very friendly staff. The food is good, perhaps even very good, but not outstanding. The pool is small, but very nice, and not crowded. Loved swimming laps, but I imagine if it had more than 3-4 people in it, you couldn't do much more than just kick back and enjoy the atmosphere.
Great location too! Union square, Market street, SoMa, MoMA, China Town, North beach, and the cable cars are all within a couple of blocks. Ghiradelli, Fisherman's wharf are just a cable car ride away...
By the way, if you want a luxury hotel with great views, go to the Mandarin Oriental. However, the Mandarin lacks in all the other qualities you would expect from a hotel of this class. The St. Regis however excels!
