Fossil Creek Hotel And Suites, Russell

We were stranded in Russell due to a heavy snowstorm. This was the first hotel we saw. The staff was friendly and helpful. The manager went out and got sandwiches and chips for the guests due to weather. Very delightful and comfortable stay!

The first thing I notice about a hotel's cleanliness is the glass and the carpet. We checked in around noon and the door glass was dirty, not just streaked, but dirty. The hallway carpet was stained in several huge spots on the first floor hallway. Our second floor room was cleaned well and did not have a smell, however the carpet had not been swept. The housekeeper promptly swept and was nice about it. The bathroom was nicely cleaned. Chrome was polished, toilet was exceptionally cleaned and the shower was just as nice. The beds were hard and a little difficult to sleep in but we were tired. The A/C was nice and cold which was a relief in the 90 degree temps. The swimming pool is indoors, a big hot tub, a sauna and lots of tables and chairs. The breakfast was nice with made to order omlets. There was also a waffle maker, biscuits and gravy, cereal, toast ect. Overall, it was okay for such a small town. Eating out...I would stick with Sonic, Subway, Pizza Hut, McDonalds or A&W. We tried a buffet next door and a mexican place which were both awful. Stick with what you know in this case.

the front desk guy wasn't hardly ever there and smelled really bad like he hadn't showered in a while or had been drinking, some of the staff was a little rude. no complaints about the housekeeping overall not a bad hotel if it was run better we would recommend it to friends

several years ago-we had stopped to stay in the hotel so we could go to the Rolling Hill's zoo with another couple the next day. On the internet-family members had been trying to find us as my husband's cousin was killed in a car accident near Wichita-this cut our trip short and all plans had to be cancelled. We were so overwhelmed with sadness-& shared this with the night clerk & then retired for the night & left an early wake up call-so we could get to the funeral the next day. Imagine our surprise when going to check out there was a personal letter from the president telling us that the hotel was our host for the night, and included the condolences of the hotel and staff- They hoped we could come back and see them again. So to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary this week end-we plan to go back to this wonderful hotel & thank them for their kindness. I know we did at the time-but we still tell our friends about the caring of this particular hotel and for them to take time to stay there=they definitely treat you like family.

A wonderful experience from the friendly and helpful reservation and desk staff to the attractive lobby area to the very clean and super quiet and comfortable rooms! For a relatively small motel, it has a large indoor pool/jacuzzi area a great continental breakfast with an omelet cook! The only area that could be improved is the exercise room that has a few too many machines for a small room. We were only here for one night but this is one of the nicest motels in this price range in which we have ever stayed! Highly recommend!
