Would NOT recommend, esp. if have small children
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/23/11
Although I initially had a very good impression of the place, I was very disappointed with the place and would NOT recommend the place to anyone, especially with children. After my husband had checked in the early afternoon, we were given a tour of the place and welcomed to use the facilities. Although small, the bedroom (The Balcony) was quaint. When my husband had to take care of some work-related business during the early evening, my 10 month son and I decided to check out the living room in the main house, especially since the bedroom was so small (could barely walk around the bed). We had been in the living room for less than 5 minutes, when one of the presumed workers reprimanded me for having my baby in there and told me that children are not supposed to be in the main house. At no time during the tour had it been mentioned that children should not be in the main house. So, slightly embarrassed, I returned to my room, thinking maybe it was on the piece of paper that we had been given when we checked in. When I check on paper, no where was it mentioned that children were NOT supposed to be in the main house. Therefore, unless you like being reprimanded after you paying for accommodations, I would NOT recommend Culpepper Inn Bed and Breakfast in Elizabeth City.

Relaxing comfortable place to stay...
By Carol, 10/12/11
Quiet street, great to take a walk in the neighborhood or walk down to town and see the water. Innkeepers are very hospitable. Many places on the property to relax and enjoy. Great for every member of our family. Stairs to upstair are steep, my 88 year old mom managed, but next time I will book her a room ground level. The breakfast was exquisite...french toast with a flair. Had one of us that is gluten-intolerant and with notice the innkeeper had a gluten-free breakfast available! Wifi made it so the teenagers and my husband happy, he had work to do. We hope to visit the Culpepper Inn again!!!!

This is one of the greatest bed and breakfast that I have ever stayed out. Clean room, great food and wonderful conversations with the owners.

BEYOND BELIEVABLE!!!
By Kilobyte kid, 6/25/07
I have never stayed in a bed and breakfast before so this was a new experience for me. Culpepper Inn is simply beyond believable! I have never felt so welcome in a "foreign" place as I did here. Jim and Bonnie were just fabulous. We were there with a fairly large wedding party and they (including Shaley, their 4 yr old daughter) made us feel as though it was our own home. They were the PERFECT host(ess)s and we couldn't have asked for a more personal touch. The food was especially awesome, too. The grounds were gorgeous and the atmosphere was quiet and very pleasant. The location was great...close to everything necessary but far enough away to be serene. The environment was spotless and the rooms beautiful. The beds were extremely comfortable. They left nothing to ask for!! All in all, this was a fantastic experience.

Great Stay for the business traveler
By James, 5/2/04
This place beats all the hotels I've stayed at in Elizabeth City. The 3 course breakfast was excellent and the hosts were wonderful. I can't wait to stay there again.
