Great affordable place to stay
By johnny, 12/07/09
I stayed at the Baymont Inn the weekend of Dec 4, 2009 for 3 nights. It really is a great value for the money...I would give it 6 stars for value if I could. The rooms are very spacious for a very affordable price. The hotel is about 3 miles from the historic district but there are free shuttles several times a day from the hotel and a cab ride would be about $10. Its only about 20 min to the beach at Tybee Island. Considering that you pay less than 1/2 what you would pay to stay in the historic area, its worth the short drive or shuttle ride,.....you can take tours and eat at some really nice restaurants with the extra $50-100 per day that you save!!!! There is really nothing around the hotel itself, a small buffet style restaurant next door , a Food Lion shopping center a block or so away and train tracks across the street (the sound was never an issue for us) .You might read somewhere that its in a bad area but its not really, .....its a few blocks from a pretty bad area but keep in mind that in downtown Savannah you are never more than a few blocks from a "sketchy" area, even in the historic district. We felt very safe here and all the room doors are on the inside. Our room was huge with a separate sitting area w/ pull out couch and tv, a fridge and microwave, good sized bath with great shower pressure PLUS a 42" plasma flat screen and one of the most comfortable king sized beds I've ever slept in. The room and hotel was clean..a few stains on the carpet and marks on the wall but nothing major and NOT dirty. The folks that work here are very nice and accomodating. There is a pretty good standard serve yourself breakfast (danishes, bagels, toast, cereal, fruit, waffle maker, sausage egg biscuits, grits), fresh baked cookies in the evening and a small concession area where you can buy hot pockets, chips, candy, etc for up to $1.50. Too cold this time of year for us to use it but there was a nice looking pool and hot tub out back. I travel quite frequently and believe that if you don't need luxury, just a very nice, clean, convenient place to stay, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal than this. No, you can't walk anywhere interesting from here BUT you can take a quick drive in your car or take the free shuttle into town and eat, shop, and play with all the money that you've saved by staying here. I am not an employee or a friend of the owner, I promise, just a very satisfied, impressed guest. Two thumbs up! : )

would return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/09
The staff was wonderful,The cleaning staff could have done a better job. It's a decent place for the money, there is a paper mill in the area so most of the time the smell outside was horrific. we stayed 5 days and never could get use to the smell. It didn't smell inside the room though. The area was a little seedy but no one bothered us.

Great Place, Friendly Staff, Nice Price
By Sally P, 07/19/09
From the moment we got there we were happy with how friendly and helpful the staff was. The maintenance man even introduced himself when we got on the elevator with him. Free continental breakfast (standard stuff) and cookies for guests in the evening. Rooms where clean and quiet. We had a suite with 2 TV's, a fridge, microwave, coffemaker, blow dryer and that was fantastic for the price we paid. Nice pool and free shuttle to town. Three miles from the Historic District. Would have preferred to stay closer, but the price was right. We purchased a dinning card for discounts, but only ended up saving $5.00 with it. Seems like it is in a bad part of town, but we always felt safe.

Great Bargain and our Yorkie Loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/09
The hotel was in very good shape and the suite we had was VERY COMFORTABLE and spacious --- EVERYONE we dealt with was COURTEOUS, FRIENDLY AND VERY HELPFUL. As experienced travelers we base a lot of our opinions on a hotel's clientele, and all the folks we met were GOOD PEOPLE. The proximity of the historic district made trips easy. Our Yorkie (JoJo) LOVED the grounds and explored every inch. We priced many hotels in the area and simply found this to be the BEST DEAL. When we return to visit Savannah, we'll definitely stay there again..

I WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/19/09
DIRTY ~ MOLD IN BATHROOMS ~ NO MAID SERVICE FOR TWO DAYS, HAD TO CALL FRONT DESK AND MANAGER HAD TO BRING FRESH TOWELS ~ AFTER TWO DAYS OF NO ROOM SERVICE, MAID SERVICE KNOCKED ON OUR DOOR AT 9 AM AND ASKED TO SERVICE ROOM, SAID WE ARE STILL SLEEPING, SHE SAID WHEN WILL YOU BE LEAVING " I WON'T BE HERE ALL DAY, VERY RUDE". WE CHECKED OUT THAT MORNING. THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO REIMBUSE US FOR ONE DAYS STAY AND 10% OF THE OTHER 3 NIGHTS, BUT HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM. IF YOU ARE READING THIS, DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL. IT IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY TRAVELS. THIS WAS TO BE A FUN TRIP WITH MY DAUGHTER. I WILL NOT COME BACK TO SAVANNAH DUE TO THIS TRIP!

Baymont Inn & Suites - Extremely congenial
By Terry, 01/17/09
My adult daughter and I recently went to Savannah for a little mother/daughter vacation. We were warmly welcomed at the front desk. They informed us of breakfast in the morning and milk and cookies at 6PM. There was a little problem with our first room in that the cleaning products triggered my asthma. The owner came up to our room because my daughter was having trouble connecting to the free wireless Internet. When we told him about my asthma situation he showed us suites that for some reason had different air. He upgraded us to a suite at no additional charge! The suite, (while a pretty generic hotel suite) was very comfortable. I would give this inn a five star. The front desk people were always very nice. The breakfast was lovely. They had assorted bagels and sweet rolls, coffee, tea, boxed cereals, freshly squeezed orange juice, milk, bread, a toaster, and you could make your own hot waffle. This is one of the nicest continental breakfasts I've seen. They always had fresh apples in a bowl at the front desk. They had complimentary USA Today newspapers. Also in the lobby there is a computer that anyone can use. We were picked up from the airport by the owner. He is awesome! He is very passionate about his hotel meeting the needs of his guests. He personally handles everything that requires a guests comfort. We were kind of pain in the neck guests and he addressed everything immediately. We just adored him. He also took us back to the airport. If you have a car and are looking for a great value, this is it. I doubt that you will ever find a more welcoming staff and will feel more at home. If I ever return to Savannah I would be sure to again stay at the Baymont Inn. Our experience there was just great.

We will never go back
By Timothy, 11/13/08
The rooms were ok nothing to write home about. Toilet paper holder did not have a bar to hold the roll so it was placed in the holder that was pitted i don't know if it was going on. The toilet ran if you didn't play with the handle. In the food area I ran my finger on the metal serving racks and it seems they weren't cleaned in sometime. The chairs in the eating area were a complete mess from spots to who knows what was on them. Would not recommend staying here at all spend a couple more bucks and stay at a hotel in the downtown area. The train next to the hotel is a good wake up call

Not My Return Choice of Hotels
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/07
Overall appearance was nice. Lobby has computer to research travel info. Front desk help was pleasant, but distracted. Rooms were clean, minimal attempt at decor. Big TV's, comfortable beds. Hotel appears fairly new, but I don't think is being well kept and won't likely remain nice for long. Shuttle service to Historic District was late. Housekeeping service very pleasant. Hotel has definite odor outside like a pulp mill, reminds me of driving through Macon. Not bothersome to us, but obvious. Location is disappointment. Not a great part of the city, but easy drive to the Historic District. For the money, we could have stayed elsewhere, but chose this one because of the shuttle service, which was a disappointment. When we return to the city, we will stay either at a B&B, or outside the city and drive in. Parking is a challenge, but you can park free if you choose a shuttle service for a trolley tour, or get a special permit while you are in town that helps make it easier. We had and issue with the phone not working at the hotel and they did discount our rate after we asked them to call a manager offsite. The desk help has no authority to authorize anything special. If you can't find anything elsewhere, this Baymont is ok, but not a place I would seek to return to visit. Continental breakfast was average at best.

Looking Forward to Return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/07
I have stayed at this location many times, during SSU Homecoming weekends, SSU Graduation, etc., and have truly enjoyed my stays. Service was great; my room was comfortable; and it was very convenient to the downtown area [including a shuttle bus for my convenience]. I would defintely recommend this hotel for a "home away from home".
