It's a DUMP!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/10
The room was so overdue for renovating and so flee infested I refused to stay even 1 night. They refused to refund my money even though I didn't stay. The front desk was a mess and the employees were not helpful at all. No elevator and this "gem" is nestled in between the interstate and a truck stop. Save your time and money and stay somewhere (anywhere) else!

OK for the Price
By Linda, 6/18/10
The place was good for the price, nice bed and pillows. The check in staff was nice (a young woman)...I think I woke the check-out guy up (8:30 am). The hallway carpet on the 1st floor is very worn with holes in it. The hotel room carpet could stand a good cleaning around the edge. Shower was narrow and curtain very close (needs one of those bowed rods to give you more room). Continental breakfast was very minimal.

Customer Service - A Huge Zero!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/09
We stayed at this hotel on our way back from a 2,800 mile road trip. Every hotel we stayed at up to this point was fantastic; however this one was a customer service nightmare! Upon arriving we found that the lobby was extremely hot, with just a couple of fans running - no A/C. The lobby attendants consisted of a teenaged girl with NO customer service skills whatsoever and a lazy maintenance boy, who played video games on the computer the entire time we checked in, seemingly unconcerned that we had requested a few minor maintenance items be taken care of in our rooms. He told the teenage girl that he'd "get to it when he got to it" right in front of us. We went to dinner for 2 hours and when we returned, the maintenance boy was still playing video games on the lobby computer. The rooms were clean but had numerous maintenance issues, none of which were attended to during our stay. During checkout, I informed the woman at the desk, who stated that she was the manager, about the lazy maintenance boy. She was apologetic and then proceeded to go into the back room off the lobby and SCREAM at the boy in my presence. It was very awkward. The boy ended up being her son. Given new management, this might have been a decent place to stay, but as it stands, this is a BIG NO NO!

Cheap but not worth it
By magnitude5555666, 2/10/08
Stayed here for about 4 months for work and was payed for by company. Very dirty, went over a week with out bedding being changed. Shower head falls off when showering. Beds uncomfortable. Had problem with breaker tripping about 3 times a night when turning on to many lights. has to sit in the dark for 10 to 15 minutes waiting for owner to switch the breaker. Electrical outlets a fire hazard, broken, missing, and several appliances on a cheap extension cord with 3-way splitter. Microwave old and makes loud screeching noise when in use. Dead bolt did not work. among many other things. WiFi internet available but slow. And was told continental breakfast was only for one night stay and would have to pay for it because we were considered extended stay. Absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed, would have left first night if I was paying for it myself.

Quiet, clean & friendly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/30/07
My husband & I spent one night in the America's Best Inn on Diamond street in Salina, Ks. The cleanest hotel we've stayed in, very quiet location & adequate continental breakfast. Very conveniently located. Friendly front desk attendant. We definitely would stay there again.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/06
I researched Salina motels and found this place, since my first choice was unavailable. I checked in about 10pm and the desk clerk was pleasant, the lobby appeared clean. Well, that was the end of the good part. Upon entering the room I turned on the entry light, it must have been a 20W bulb, as all the lights are in the room. Four different lights taken together probably yielded no more than a single 100W bulb. Needless to say, the lighting gave the whole room a dingy appearance. The bedside table lights in addition to being low wattage, are about 4 inches off the nightstands. The telephone is across the room on a desk, usually phones are next to the bed. Can't comment on cleanliness, the lights are too dim to really tell. Perhaps the morning light will reveal more. The bed has a top sheet and bedspread, no blanket. I requested a smoking room, but even as a smoker I was appalled by the odor as I entered the room. I travel frequently so I can honestly say, they must not use any air freshner. The security dead bolt would not work, even for the desk clerk. I would never stay here again. The only pluses are the wireless internet connection and the proximity to I-70. The price was the reason I chose this motel. but the old adage "you get what you pay for" certainly apples to this motel.
