Filthy Rooms, Staff with Bad Attitude

There is no way this motel is up to Holiday Inn Express standards. Our room looked like someone had been living in it, maybe using it for an employee lounge. Upon going back to the desk, the clerk became very defensive, saying she should not have sent us to this particular room. Really? When I asked why a guest would be given this room, the clerk became very nasty and told us to take another room or just leave. Ok, it was late, so we took another room. My confirmed reservation was for a nonsmoking room. When we got to this second room, it reaked of smoke, obviously a smoking room. We returned again to the desk, only to be greeted by the same angry clerk, asking us what the problem was now? When I mentioned my confirmed reservation for a nonsmoking room, she acted like the mistake was all our fault, then tried to say a nonsmoking room cannot be confirmed. Now, I know that is a lie. Finally, after studying her reservations on the computer, she says maybe there was a mistake made. Maybe? Upon going to a third room, all seemed well, until we turned on the TV, which did not work at all. The bed sheets had large stains on them, and the shower had a broken shower head. What happened was the clerk sent us to a room that was actually closed for maintenance work. The indoor pool was filthy, and the hallways in the place looked like they had never been cleaned, trash everywhere. The breakfast was just as bad as everything else in this place, stale dry donuts, sour milk, no coffee. What a dump! Fortunately, when I called Holiday Inn corporate office and told them about my experience, they agreed to send me a full refund check. It sounds like corporate guest relations knows all about the problems at the Murphy NC Holiday Inn Express. Avoid this place. I would rather sleep in my car than here.
