Residence Inn by Marriott Alexandria Old Town, Alexandria

my husband and i stayed for 5 days......the staff was so nice and accommodating; from the shuttle driver, to the kitchen help, to the cleaning crew, to the front desk. the breakfast was full of cold & hot food choices! we were impressed and would stay there again. our only complaint was our bed - we sank to the middle just as other reviewers noted.......(hotels need to flip mattresses every month)

My brother and I went to Alexandria from CT to visit a family friend for her birthday and we had a great time. But, most of all we had a great room, great staff (who were very helpful) and great location. This was the first time I made hotel arrangements online and booking this with Yahoo Travel was very easy. I truly recommend this hotel and Yahoo Travel to anyone. Signed: HAPPY TRAVELER.

We're heading back to the Residence Inn in Old Towne for our 4th or 5th visit. My daughter likes the pool. I like the shops and restaurants within walking distance. The easy access to the Metro is another plus. The staff is friendly and by now, we know the whole set up. Getting in and out of the parking proved to be a bit of a challenge for some of the drivers in the family, tho, but it's nice to have secure parking in an area we don't know as well as we do our home city.

Rooms: The room I stayed in was spacious and the cleaning crew kept the room in excellent condition during my three week stay. Bed springs were worn; everyone sleeps on the side closest to the bathroom. I was very impressed by the cleaning crew they’re one of the major reasons the hotel didn’t slip into a lower rating. Staff: As a whole the staff is not overly helpful or polite – although there was one or two that associates that offered the service I’ve come to expect from Marriott. One staff member had me wait until he finished his personal conversation before offering any assistance. Pool: Tiny and cloudy. Don’t expect to be able to use the pool to work out. Three strokes and you’re already at the far side of the pool. Laundry: Good sized laundry room with adequate number of machines. Dry cleaning costs were outrageous (as always) but there are a few local cleaners available so you can avoid this gouging. Convenience: Hotel is located close to local transit to DC so that’s convenient and there are lots of local restaurants that are excellent. There is also a Whole Foods less than a block away for those of you who like to prep your own food. The neighborhood feels safe. Summary: This hotel could use some retooling when it comes to customer service, however it’s a decent, safe, and clean place to stay.

not customer friendly at all. the staff did not seem to care and acted like they only wanted to do what was easiest for them.

Stay was not as expected-- Employees had a "don't care" attitude. Halls very noisey at night Breakfast was terrible-- Beds were worn-- sank to the middle. Laporta Restaurant was not clean in handling of food. Very expensive
