Sleep under a bridge before you stay here
We booked a reservation here the week prior while planning a trip through the area, and this seemed like a reasonable place to stay between Grand Canyon and Zion. When we got there, local teens skate boarding all around, parking was awful and the hotel itself was shabby. I asked to view the room prior to taking the reservation. The room was dirty, the beds sagged, there was an unidentifiable stain on the chair and the room was far below expectations. My wife absolutely refused to stay here.
I went back to the desk and informed the manager that we wished to cancel our room reservation. He informed me that since I did not give 24 hours notice of cancellation, our room would still be charged to our credit card. I argued back and forth with the manager and owner that the room was substandard and the reservations must be cancelled. The owner's reply was, and I quote, "I have a business to run, if I let everyone out of their reservation who did not like the room, I would be out of business"
After telling them I would not pay for the room, they informed me that they would bill my credit card anyway. After some nasty exchanges of what they could do to themselves, I went out to their laughter. I am in the process of fighting the charge on my credit card.
We looked around for another hotel, most were full and we finally stopped at the Best Western down the street. After explaining my situation, they gave me a room and knocked off $20.00 for the night. This hotel was run almost entirely by the Navajos and they were some of the nicest, attentive hotel staff I have ever met. Please go to this hotel instead and let them know how you were recommended.
Every business place and person I spoke to in that town commented on what a dump and dive the Rodeway Inn in Page, AZ was and noted that this was a pattern for all the businesses the man owned in the vincinty. Apparently, he has several small hotels and places to eat next to each other.
PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE, IT IS A DUMP
