great value
We were in Oxford for a wedding, and most of the guests were staying at the Randolph in the city centre. Sorry, but with the exchange rate what it is, that's about $400 a night. We were at the Express for $92. The cab from the city centre to the hotel (about a 10 minute drive) is about 8 pounds, or 16 dollars. Really a no-brainer, even though there is not around the hotel other than the Oxford soccer stadium.
In terms of the room and hotel, the room is what you'd expect from a nice Holiday Inn. Clean bathrooms, functional bed, desk, TV, etc. Nicer than I'd have expected, especially for the price. The breakfast in included, and it is not just a continental muffin/coffee, but included a decent fruit selection, cereals, juices, yogurt, etc.
We were hoping it wouldn't be a dump - it wasn't. It is definitely worth staying there, and even if you're back and forth from the city centre a couple times, it is worth it from a price perspective.
