Econo Lodge & Suites, Columbus

We stayed there 10/29 & 30/08. The door wouldn't close on the first room and smelled awful. They gave me a better room and promised a cheaper price. They charged my daughter for my room for two nights at the wrong rate on her debit card, which overdrew her account. The manager did straighten out the charges but will not reimburse the overdraft charges ($240.00). They charged me one night for a chaper woom, which was her bill. My daughter is taking legal action.

I was travelling to see my husband for his pass at Ft. Benning. I have a one year old son that also accompanied me on the this trip. We arrived at the hotel around 4 something in the morning, and they made us stand OUTSIDE to get checked in! It was cold outside and my son was very tired. When I got into the room, it looked okay, the light didn't work, so I had to go all the way into the room by the bed to turn on the light. The remote to the t.v. didn't work and the heater sucked. It was pretty clean, and the housekeepers are very friendly and precise. Although, on our last day, I had a Do Not Disturb sign on, and they still came in. Throughtout the stay, the front desk was very helpful with directions and very helpful when checking out. I also did not like the fact that they were not helpful with my son. They did not have a play pen or any sort of bed that he could sleep on. I was also informed that a roll away would cost more money. The location was a good location. Kinda far from a grocery store or department store, but good area. Close to Ft. Benning, dining, malls, and other ammenities. Overall, average, but will not stay there again.

We had originally reserved this room for 5 nights, but wound up checking out after 1. It was terrible. When we went to our room, the door had been left open. There was a very strong odor, sticky cleaning supply residue all over the table tops, and a bug in the bathtub. The appearance of the room was very run down. It still cost us as much as one of the nicer hotels. Not much of an "economy" price. The one positive is that the staff is friendly and courteous, but that doesn't help much when you have a dirty room.

I had experienced real southern hospitality staying in Econolodge historic district in Columbus GA.The manager Kari is exceptinally professional and friendly. She graciously offered to change my room to accomodate for better internet access. There is a working computer with internet access open to the guests in the office building. It is a big plus!Other personnel is also very friendly and ready to help on your first word.Big spacious lounge for breakfast in a quiet home atmosphere.The famous river walk is very close, as well as shopping and theatres downtown. I enjoyed my stay at Econologe a nd grateful for wonderful home atmosphere I found here.

When we were returning to our room around 9 pm our key would not work. So when we went to the front desk they tryed numerous things ( reseting keys, using different keys )to get it to work but it couldnt. An hour later ( while were sitting outside ), they inform us that the lock had completely run out of battery power and that they needed to get some kinda key from the manager who didnt even live in Columbus! They did eventually put us in the next room over meanwhile our puppy was locked in the other room. Overall they didnt offer us any type of compensation or discount for the trouble. The next day while checking out we again asked for some kind of compensation and they gave us a half hearted " youll get a discount next time you come " with no contact info at all. HORRIBLE!
