Beautiful place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/10/08
My husband and I spent 2 nights here and had a wonderful stay. The Front Desk staff---Gloria, Dawn, Jennifer and Amy were all very friendly and helpful. Our meal at the restaurant was excellent, although pricey. I had the elk and it was so tender ("like buttah"). Our room was very nice and comfy with a beautiful view of the Colorado River. We had a private little patio so we could relax and soak up some rays. There are plenty of activities---bicycling, hiking, rafting, walking, horseback riding, a pool, a hot tub and an exercise room. We took a lot of photos and did a lot of walking, plus we did some off-roading in our small SUV to Fisher Valley, which was fun. Not for huge SUV's due to a couple of narrow passages. Definitely not for cars as the stream crosses the dirt road 27 or 28 times. For those who are not into nature and beautiful redrock landscapes, this may not be the right place for you. Moab is a small town which is located 14 miles from the lodge. There a quite a few motels, interesting shops, restaurants, outdoor outfitters and a brewery. So, if you are looking for a big town and huge nightlife, you're in the wrong part of the world. There is a playground at the lodge and lots of open space for kids to run and play with supervision, because of the proximity to the Colorado. The lodge has it's own water system, so the water out of the taps in the room doesn't taste very good. Although we brought our own bottled water, the blue reverse osmosis faucets (one in the kitchenette and one in the bathroom) was fine for drinking, making coffee and tea. The room comes with a kitchenette which includes a sink, small frig, microwave and a coffee maker (coffee, tea, etc.,provided). There are place settings for 4---dishes, cups, water glasses, wine glasses and silverware. I'm sure if you needed more that the Front Desk would provide those for you. We stopped at City Market in Moab before heading out to the lodge and bought a few groceries. The lodge does have a an all-you-can eat breakfast ($9.95 per person during the week and $12.95 per person for Sunday Brunch), but since we don't eat that much nor did we want to pay that much, we ate the food that we had bought for breakfast in Moab. The lodge does not serve lunch, although box lunches can be ordered in advance. I'm sure they are pricey. Again, we ate the food that we had bought in Moab---we made sandwiches and took a picnic. A small insulated collapsable cooler is perfect for this. The linens and towels were all clean and fresh. I must say, the king-size bed is the most comfortable I've ever experienced at a hotel/lodge/motel. The weather was nice for this time in the fall. The country is stunning and beautiful. Also not to be missed---Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park. It would be nice to go to one of those other parks if you have an extra day or two after visiting Red Cliffs. We plan on going to the lodge in early spring next year and taking a rafting trip. Don't miss Redd Cliffs Lodge. It is a very peaceful and beautiful part of Utah!

Blasted me away
By JO, 9/6/08
Located in a remote and dramatic red stone valley setting, the lodge offered everything except John Wayne. The pictures you may see of this lodge on their website hardly do justice in reality. The room was spacious with a king size bed and a kitchenette. The view from the patio overlooked the river and a red cliff beyond it. The restaurant, Cowboy Grill, had a magnificent, unforgettable view of the river and overpowering red canyon buttes. It was pricy (over $100 for 3 of us), but well worth it. The staff was complimenting the owner which is a good sign - great hospitality all around. You will not regret a visit. Middle of John Wayne country. Supermarket, gas station is about 15 miles away. There is a coin laundry on the premise which my wife appreciated.

Piece of heaven
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/1/08
I love this place. We spent our honeymoon there 5 years ago, and just went back last week. Everyone is so nice, might seem expensive, but to us it's worth every penny. Waking up to that view is fabulous....it's becoming a spring family tradition of ours to stay there!

Good spot for nearby attractions
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/3/07
The location for touring was a good choice. The accomodations were spacious, private and very clean. The Sunday morning breakfast buffet was great but the other days of the week it was not so great. The evening menu is a bit limited. The horses were in fine condition. The spa is a real bonus.

Wonderful stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/10/07
Best customer service encountered in years!! In every instance, these were the nicest, most accommodating people I've found in much travel over many years! Dinner on the deck overlooking the river was absolutely amazing. What a view!!! The food and service were outstanding as well. The table could have used a tablecloth or at least placemats. Not worth complaining about given the meal and view. We stayed in a cabin and it was very nice. The carpet had a huge spot in the middle of the room, however. The beds were nice. Nice bathroom. HOWEVER, the towels were very scratchy and just not as nice as I would expect from a resort of the this calibre. Nice robes provided. Good light. Nice little kitchenette. Excellent patio. All aspects of customer service beyond reproach! All employees we encountered went way out of their way to be helpful. Thank you!

Definitely do the Horseback ride
I didn't stay at the Lodge but went there for their Horseback ride through Castle Valley. It was the best trail ride I've ever done. Amazing views and a variety of riding terrain. The wranglers make sure everyone including kids are extremely comfortable with their horses before you leave the corral. The wranglers are friendly and knowledgable. If you want to see the Wild West Scenery...this is definitely the way to do it.

Stunning Location-Comfort Plus!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/9/05
I loved the cabins, located on the Colorado River or stream, lovely location, quiet, ranch-like feel, beautiful amenities-a feast for the soul. The view from the restaurant in the evening is nothing short of stunning as the sun goes down over the Colorado River behind the red cliffs. The museum in the hotel was facinating-pictures of movies made on location there, etc. The John Wayne decor and pictures were perfect for the location and history. Olympic-sized pool was great. We want to go back!! Highly recommend for family reunions or conferences also.
