Lille Hotel Europe, Lille

The hotel was very good for the money, but we found Lille extremely expensive for meals and drinks. On the main square we paid £7.50 for a pint of beer, and muscles and chips were £14.00

I stayed at this hotel in March 2007 and although I don't usually go for 2 stars, I choose it as it was near the Eurostar Terminal. It was more like a 3* standard. The twin room we had was at the front, overlooked the main road, so noisy at times when the window was open, room was quite hot, so had window open most of the time. You get use to the traffic and people noise, but great location if you want to be central. Its about 10 mins walk from Eurostar Terminal and less to Flanders station, the bus station is also by Flanders station and the Euralille shopping centre is attached to the hotel. There was a mini-bar, also shampoo supplied. Very modern inside hotel. We could not check in until 3 pm, but our luggage was kept in the luggage room. Staff helpful and friendly. To walk to Place de Gaulle about 15 minutes leisurely walk. I would highly recommend the hotel if you want somewhere central. Oh yes we had the breakfast (extra charge) but it was a good choice. I think from what I can recall there was free internet access if you had your own computer in the lounge area.
