Castello Della Castelluccia, Rome

Located on the ring road to the north of Rome, this hotel is a treasure. Somewhat easy access to the train station. Taxis are not so common in this suburb. It takes some time to get to the center of old Rome if that is what you want to do. The staff is very friendly and multilingual. They remember your name. It's a very small, very elegant hotel. The food in the restaurant is superb. The pool is located at the bottom of the hill, it is large, clean, and warm (in August). If we had flashlights it would have been fun to explore the ancient basement areas. Inside the hotel looks totally new, with lots of exposed stone walls and paintings on the ceilings. The main front doors are iron bars that open automatically when you approach which is pretty cool. The rooms have cable TV. This hotel would be best if you want to stay a few days in the lap of luxury with only one day trip to old Rome.
