El Pescador Hotel, 5 de Diciembre

We spent 1 week in the hotel this year. The price was good, especially since we booked another room for my sister and my niece. Excellent ocean views and close to Vallarta's Malecon. That's were the good stops and the complaints begin. We had to request another room for my sister since the one they put her in had a bad air conditioner and could not be fixed. The beds were horrible. It was like sleeping on a rock, after two nights my ribs started to hurt. The included breakfast was repetitve. The balcony was so small you could not really sit in comfort and enjoy the view. The pool regulations were not enforced (an adult male was in the pool in his underwear; people brought coolers and played music a little too loud... things which were supposedly not allowed.) If you plan on bathing in the beach forget this hotel. The beach there is not very well suited for this.... way too rocky. The elevator was not reliable. Overall, the hotel could use a face lift. If you can find another hotel that costs $20 dollars a night more, it would be worth it. Save this hotel for for situations where nothing else is available.

What I like the most about the place is its location. It's a small place, very clean where I feel like home. You have access to almost everything by walking distance. Not a place for beach fans...

Excellent location. Everything worked. Place was clean enough. Magnificent view from our balcony on the ocean. Friendly and helpful staff. Security guards on board which made us feel safe. We will stay there next time around. Advise to pre-book before you arrive; rates will be cheaper that way.

I read the reviews prior to staying here so I knew the hotel was nothing special and was not expecting much so there was no surprises in regards to the hotel itself. However I was VERY dissapointed in the level of service at the hotel. You would wait over an hour to get a drink while sitting by the pool. Also my friend had stayed out in the sun too long one day and got heat stroke and was feeling very sick. Our room did not have air conditioning so we ask to be moved to a room that had it so it would be more comfortable, they refused to and were very rude about it. Another negative was the beach in front of the hotel was very rocky so we had to walk down the beach to find a nice spot. Personally I would never stay here again and pay the extra few dollars and stay elsewhere.
