Hershey Motel 6, Hershey

(Currently it is Cocoa Country Inn & Suite at Hershey PA.) My friend and I were traveling through PA and due to an emergency we had to stop at Hershey, PA. We were in need of a place where we can stay for one night. I found this hotel Cocoa Country Inn & Suite at Hershey. The front desk staff helped us to accommodate. The check inn was quick and easy. I was not sure about the amenities of the hotel, but when I entered the room I was surprised. The room was comfortable and spacious. The bed were comfortable and cozy. The bed was covered with clean bed sheets (a major plus). The room has many amenities like, TV, refrigerator, microwave and many more. The Hotel was very well maintained with nice country type decor and colors. We will come back for a longer stay.

OMG!!! This place was disgusting. We called from the road, because we did not plan on staying out in Hershey for the night. First they told us that the price was $90.00, then when I said "oh ok, never mind" they asked what I wanted to pay. I was able to stay for $60.00 a room. When we checked in, the woman prided herself on the fact that there was no smoking. While my husband went to unpack the car, he entered the room and came to office while I checked in. He said the smell of cigarettes was SO OVERWHELMING, that the kids could not stay in there. She changed our rooms to two adjoining rooms with no windows. When we checked in there was some random guy in our room (we never found out who he was), but needless to say we moved all valuables back into the car. There was hair everywhere--the shower, the bed, the sink, everything (all electronics) were unplugged, the toilet needed to be flushed. It was disgusting. The mattress actually hurt. The one benefit was I had left my license in the office and the woman had called at 11:30pm to tell me it was there. Now, granted I had checked in 4 hours before so I am not sure why she waited until 11:30pm to call me. So fast forward a week and a half, my seven year old left his DSi XL at the hotel. I called and they were honest and told me it was in fact there. However, they wanted to charge me $30.00 + shipping costs to send it back!! They told me that their time was valuable and therefore it would cost me $30.00. I was shocked. I tried several different options but their $30 + shipping was cheaper than driving out there or a new DSi XL. So, I called last Friday to have it shipped. The woman told me she would call after she got to the post office "either today or tomorrow or sometime next week". I was furious, at $30.00 go to the freaking post office. So Tuesday comes, no call yet. I have my husband call--because I no longer have it in me to be nice. They have not shipped it yet, because I did not seem happy about paying the $30.00 + shipping. Do yourself a favor. Drive to the walmart down the street and sleep in your car before you step foot in that dive motel!

First of all, the rooms look NOTHING like they do on the internet, Which to me is false advertisement. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot the first words out of my mouth were," You have got to be kidding me"!! The room was extremely small, barely enough room for myself, fiance, my daughter and her friend to move around. We had a non-smoking room but the room wreaked of stale cigarette smoke. The beds were like sleeping on a sheet of plywood, pillow cases were so stained that i didn't even want to lay my head on it...( Same goes for the towels and wash clothes)....The metal strip on the floor that is supposedly nailed to the carpet was sticking straight up in the air at the entrance to the bathroom....Major lawsuit there i would say if someone slices their foot on that!!!!! Overall, this place is disgusting and my suggestion to anyone planning to stay here is STAY AWAY. Pay the extra money to stay somewhere that is much cleaner and taken care of properly!!!!!!

After reading reviews, I told my husband to make sure he got a renovated room. He called, all ok. We pulled up to an empty office, then a groggy man appeared. We were skeptical that I ran in 1st, checked out before kids came in. Housekeeping great & helpful. Ice a pay machine but it's water - chips dated Nov 09. No wifi. Pool clean but nails sticking out of deck. 1st fl musty!!!! Door locked fine 1st night, but not after ??? Came back to unlocked room. Checkout we waited 30 minutes for someone - excuse was people checking in all nite. It's a man and his wife who doesn't speak English. Water weak, toilet no power. Random people knock on door at all hours - come in thru open door. Spend the extra $$ to stay somewhere better especially with kids/family.

When I was checking in, the young man behind the desk made me feel uncomfortable about bringing my dog. The only reason I chose this hotel was because it was 'pet friendly'. He told me that he was not giving me a 'pet friendly' room (I doubt any of them were) and I felt like I had to keep reassuring him that my pet would not mess up the room. PLEASE, that room was not worthy of my dog! There were NO PILLOW CASES on the pillows and everything was severely outdated. The toilet didn't flush unless you held down the handle for 10 seconds and then would run continuously until you jiggled the handle. THE BEST PART IS they tried to rip me off! I wanted to add a person to my room. I knew that the charge online was an extra $10. The man at the desk asked me to pay $50 saying that it is the hotel's policy, not the website's. Whatever that means! They should be the same. He said that since it was a weekend with a concert nearby and my friend would be bringing a car, he was asking for more. Mind you, there were no special rates for this weekend posted anywhere or online. And I never saw a policy in regards to only one car per room. There are many other hotels located VERY close to this one (days inn, hampton inn, best western, etc) that will be 100 times better! Go there!

This place used to be the Scottish Inn which didn't have good reviews either. The rooms are NOT renovated, at least not ours. We were in a non-smoking floor but the entire place *reeked* of cigarette smoke. There was a paper towel filling in a hole in the ceiling, the clocks are *encouraged* to be unplugged, the carpets are filthy, the pilled and very tatty blankets are not on the bed but in a drawer, and there are electrical outlets that are visibly not wired correctly. Oh and the key cards are not changed from guest to guest. I have no idea where the "restaurant" is and the complimentary morning coffee must occur after 9 am because when we checked out the office was closed. No in room coffee maker either. The beds were comfortable though and the location is good. I wouldn't recommend this place until they do a true remodel and cleaning. It is way, way, way past due.

Motel has really poor service. The rooms are not clean and really owner is nasty. It was one of the horrible motel experiences we had in our life. In the room lot of rats and bags. Motel is not at all good for kids.

This was a terrible hotel. The floors were dirty and it had a musty smell to it. Because of this, we asked for a new room. The new room had an electrical hazard because the lamp needed replaced. One of the towels had, what looked like, blood stains on them. With all this, my wife and I decided to leave because it was 2 a.m and my daughter (three years old) was crying and wanted to go to sleep. We went down to the Hampton Inn on the same street and recieved an excellent room. The next morning, I went to explain my visit to the owner. After spending several minutes ringing the doorbell so that he could let me in, he refused to give me my money back for the second night that I had paid for even though we were not going to be staying there that night and did not stay the night prior. His reasons: 1) He offered me a non-smoking room that would be clean. He said that they don't clean the smoking rooms as well as the non-smoking rooms. 2) I needed to cancel my reservation with 24 hours notice. Basically, if you get a crappy room from him, you won't get your money back because you didn't cancel with 24 hours notice. I guess I should have went down a day early to see if the room was clean or not. 3) His rooms are not dirty and I am lying about my visit. He said this even though he had just told me that they don't really clean their smoking rooms. 4) How he runs his buisness is no concern of mine. Then, he threatened to call the cops on me because I would not leave his hotel. Even though I had paid to stay that day. He claims that I was cussing and screaming at him. Yeah, in front of my three year old that is how I acted. He is just some crazy immigrant from a muslim country I think.

Rooms need to be updated. Location is good but that is the only positive. Plenty of better options with similar location. Would never stay there again.

The staff at the Scottish Inn in Hershey, PA are excellent. A gentlemen that works there named Troy had gone out and beyond his call of duty to help me as a customer. Im in a hardship right now with gas prices and my travel back and forth to work daily and the staff was so friendly in helping to accomodate me with my situation. I would recommend this location to anyone that is looking for a place where the service is worth just as much as the quality of the rooms. Great Job Scottish Inn and Great Job Troy. I will recommend you to everyone I know who is coming from out of town and needs a fine place to stay in PA.
