Sun N Fun Motel Apartments, Indian Shores

Our family rented out all the units for my grandparents 50th anniversary and were shocked at what the week turned out to be. Hoping for a great, relaxing stay we soon discovered how gross the place was. Of course we expected the older furniture, decor, etc from the photos but were disgusted by what we found. The comforters are stained, a rat was running around loose in unit 6, unit 4 has NO smoke detector (FIRE HAZARD!). Unit 1 has a pull out couch and zero linens provided. The roof is tarped with rain seeking through and dripping on the inside of the units. We had a bucket sitting on one of the beds to keep the leak from getting on the bed. The cabana had lights lining the top that smoked and blew up when we plugged them in. Laundry is in a small disgusting building that has mold and mildew growing and you have to pay for it. Two separate toilets have clogged only from urine and overflowed into the entire bathroom. Not all the windows have locks or even completely close. We have spotted poop from the rat around the house...quite unpleasant. They have lamps with no light bulbs. The provided beach toys were stored outside in a bin full of water and mosquito larva. Needless to say, those weren't touched. There were no mirrors in some bathrooms. In unit 6 both showers were molded and absolutely disgusting..we took showers outside! In units 1 & 2, all you hear is cars driving by at night. I would def not consider this as a great get-away vacation if i'm constantly up half of the night worrying about rats, roaches, lights that have no switch to turn them off and are constantly on outside so that the world is able to view the beach from the web cams. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!

We stayed in Unit #4. Views out the window were absolutely stunning, saw sunrise and sunsets daily over the Gulf waters. We received a warm welcome upon arrival, made us feel safe and truly happy to be here. Must go see for yourself. .

We are currently staying in room #5 (small) and are very pleased with the service we have received to this point and with the overall atmosphere of the rooms and the property. We also toured 2 other units (#1 medium & #6 large) and they are also very charming with the vintage feel we appreciate. Everything we have experienced is clean and pest free. When you look around and see the slight slop to the floor or the many layers of paint from the past it is evident how old the property truely is. We have everything we could ask for except that much needed single packet of coffee for the first morning. This unit has a newer fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffeemaker. We have a comfortable bed which was very important in choosing this lodging as I have lived with a broken back for a great number of years. There is a dresser, and closet for clothes storage, but some wall hooks for coats and robes would be helpful. The laundry is 12 paces down the walkway from our front door. We have double windows looking out to the ocean and horizon, we can watch the ocean surf rolling in onto the silky soft white sand or the sun set in the evening all from our window view. The decor is pleasing with beach themed art on the walls, seashell print on the bed, lavender accents threwout. Each unit has a set of chairs just outside the door to relax and enjoy the sun. We will come back!!!

My sister and I have stayed there several times and really have enjoyed it. It is the classic old cottage feel. We grew up going to the gulf beach in Indian Rocks staying in the older cottages that used to be so plentiful and this reminded us of those places in that day, wehave really enjoyed this place.

This is Wes, the owner. We were struggling with the $41,000 property tax bill. Now that land values have returned to normal and the taxes have dropped to $26,000 we have poured the cash back into making this the classic 1925 place on the beach that got so many many great reviews.

My husband and I wanted small, quaint, good location. It was small....very and good location. However the room itself was HORRIBLE!!!! We were in #5 and apparently it has fallen victim to some of Floridas' Hurricane's yet never fully repaired. It had dry rot around windows, paneling bowing from walls, linoleum peeling up all over, caulking in tub is peeling off and mildewed, door had water damage, not very clean, roaches running around in kitchen, just disgusting. My husband and I are local Floridian's and go over to the west coast many times a year. This is by far the worst place we've ever stayed!!!! We will never ever go back!!!!!

We had problems from the beginning when we turned the lights on in the bathroom and the roaches scattered. 2 days later the shower was filled with sewer water. We never relaxed in the room for the fear of something crawling on us. Always had to shake out our clothes. We bought a can of ant and roach spray to fight back, but the shower backing up was too much and we checked out 5 days early.
